Welcome to Behind the Box, our interview series to introduce you to exciting sellers on the Cratejoy Marketplace! Each of these small businesses has a unique, important story to tell, and we’re eager to help spread the word.
Megan's business, Night In Boxes, curates fun and unique experiences for couples and families to connect, have fun, and try something new at home. Learn more about what inspired Megan to start this business below!
Tell us your story! What were you doing before you started your business, and what inspired you to launch your box?
I came from a digital marketing background and had just moved for my husband's job with the St. Louis Cardinals. We were in a new city about to have our second baby and I had this feeling like we weren't going to get to have another date night for a long time. I mentioned to him that we should send a date night to people's doors and we were literally off to the races!
Why this subscription box, and why now?
I have been doing this for 3 and 1/2 years. It was born out of necessity to solve a problem that didn't have a solution.
What are you hoping to accomplish with your business? What does success look like to you?
At first, success looked like growing and expanding, and I was so focused on number of subscribers instead of really focusing on keeping subscribers. Now, we are more focused on quality on all fronts over quantity.
What makes your Night In boxes unique?
We offer a turnkey date solution that can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home. It forces you to carve out time with your significant other, put away your devices, and connect again in a real and meaningful way.
[Also,] our Kids Night In boxes package life lessons in new and creative ways. There are these fleeting moments and opportunities with children that we like to build upon.
Have the events of 2020 had an impact on your business? Tell us more about your story this year.
Yes, in an incredible way. We are so blessed to provide an at-home solution for couples who can't go out and in-home entertainment for children.
