If you read my review for the first box from Hunt A Killer, you would know that this game is an awesome idea for date night, or for a monthly friend meet-up! I was interested before I had even started, but afterward, I was even more intrigued. I waited and waited for the second box, and low and behold, it arrived! Check out how the second box unraveled below:

Items #1, #2: A Note from LFoA, and The Second Pen-Pal Letter, Box Number Two

I see, now, that there will be a trend for every box: a letter from the (pretend) organization that links up citizens with inmates (“Listening Friends of America.”) It’s a nice touch because it shows more depth to the ongoing story. I also realized that at the bottom of the LFoA letter is a link to their site! I love that Hunt A Killer is deeply involved with all aspects of the game!

I also received another letter from the pen-pal in the first shipment, except this one was even more creepy (yes!) He explains that he was attaching a piece of his favorite artwork for me to enjoy and insists that I “study it closely.” As if that wasn’t odd enough, he also writes a poem about the artwork, an eerie feeling that must be a clue to something important! And then, at the bottom right-hand corner of the letter, a fingerprint – and it appears to be a bloody one! Oh, this was getting good!

Item #2: Etched Artwork

As promised, the pen-pal attached a piece of artwork, and as promised in his letter, some parts of the image are censored. He warned me about that. As he instructed, I studied it. I looked long and hard and tried to figure out what the pen-pal wanted to tell me by sending me this. I kept on.

Item #3: A Psychiatric Case File

In the pen-pal letter, the author mentioned that he had a friend who would be sending a case file on one of the inmates locked up, who was charged with a murder that my pen-pal doesn’t think he committed. In the file, I learned more about the convicted murderer that led me to a really interesting theory (again, no spoilers here).

Item #5: A UV Flashlight

Aside from the game itself, I was really excited for one of these because I’ve always wanted one! You never know when you’ll need it! After having seen detectives use them in tv shows and movies, I was all too pumped up to inspect each item received in the box – and then it happened! I found something! A clue! I can’t tell you what it is, and I’m still trying to figure out what it means, but never the less, it was a win for me!

Item #6: A Tooth

This is where it got weird, which I love. I wasn’t expecting such an item, but it really got me thinking. I have an idea of what it means, but at this point, I can’t for sure just yet. It’s a pretty surprising thing to find in the box, though! Does it belong to a victim? A predator? It’s gettin’ interesting!

Verdict:

I’m on to something! I have to admit that after the first box I was worried that I would find it difficult to catch up with the second, but this was a great follow-up episode! I also need to confess that I did end up joining the forums, but it has been such a huge help! I was worried that it would take the fun out of it, but it’s the opposite! Can’t wait for the next box!
