This post was updated in March 2018 to include all the fresh, new, Hygge goodies.
Hygge Box describes its namesake as “the Danish lifestyle of coziness, happiness, and enjoying life’s simple pleasures” on a beautiful card inside the box. Hygge is all about freshening up your home a bit every month with decor and accessories that are inviting to your guests and help start friendly conversation.
Price: $28/mo for Standard Hygge Box, or $39.95/mo for Deluxe Hygge Box (This review is for the Deluxe box).
Shipping: Boxes ship between the 15th-18th of the Month. Orders must be placed by the last day of the prior month.
The items we received in the March Deluxe Hygge Box perfectly encapsulate the feeling of being at peace, cozy, and comfortable in your skin and space. Read on to see what’s inside this (beautifully designed) package and our overall rating of the box.
Firstly, you receive a link to a survey about your personal interests and preferences so that each box includes items you know you’ll cherish and love. The deluxe box includes 4-6 season products for hyggelig moments such as lights/candles, hot drinks, sweets, chocolates, home decor, and beauty.
Something to keep in mind is that although the snacks aren’t gluten, dairy, or nut-free, they are delicious and perfect for dunking in a hot beverage. Read on for an individual review of each product.
Lavender & Sandalwood Soy Candle (8 oz): Even after years of smelling every last candle in every Anthropologie, Diptyque, Jo Malone, and small boutique I step into, I haven’t come across a gorgeous Lavender and Sandalwood scented candle before. This one is all natural and smells calming. It
Crochet Coasters: They’re 100% cotton and made in India. An old-fashioned crochet coaster feels like it belongs in a log cabin in a beautiful forest. These are in shades of green for that Spring theme and I’ve already started using them for my desk at work.
Simple Market Tote Bag: This net bag is similar to what Parisians in 1860 would use at the grocery store. Who doesn’t want to bring a bit of French charm into their life? Perfect for carrying fresh fruits and vegetables or maybe even a small towel and sunscreen for a trip to the lake.
Herb Brewer RelaxT Tea: Brew your own zen moment by pouring hot water into this bag of chamomile, lavender blossoms, peppermint, and sage leaves. No need to fuss with strainers and bags, just pour into your mug of choice.
Traou Mad Pont Aven Thin Palet Cookies: These cookies didn’t last longer than a day in the office, so I’d say they were a hit. Hygge is also about eating good things, so these buttery, crumbly cookies definitely suffice. They go great with the herbal tea, too.
The Tiny Book of Tiny Pleasures: This book is such a wonderful addition to the box. There are hundreds of intricate, adorable illustrations inside to remind you of the small pleasures in life. It spreads positivity, slow living, recipes, fun facts, and cheerful prompts.
Parabo Press 25 Square Prints: This is the item that pleasantly surprised me the most. As someone who loves photography and wants to print the thousands of photos I take every year, I don’t exactly have the budget to do so. These high-quality, thick card prints are perfect for Instagram lovers who want to see their feed reflected in their space. You receive 25 free prints to order online within a few weeks.
Verdict: Overall, I’d definitely be interested to see what they’d include in future boxes, especially autumn-themed ones. The quality of the items can be felt when holding them, so I do believe they have a collective value over the $39.99 price. I think the items are certainly adorable and can double up as gifts for friends’ birthdays. This box would also make a great gift for someone who needs a bit of self-care, introspection, and Hygge loving.
