I did not receive half of the items that were supposed to be in the box. I subscribed to this box for a total of 4 months and 2 out of 4 boxes were missing items and the items I did receive were cheap, torn, and not worth the subscription price.
My fiance loved his 1st package! He's pretty particular and into expensive name brands. He didn't like the name of the package, "Basic Man", but got over it as soon as he felt the materials. He's guy crushing pretty hard on the colors and fabric.
I gave this sub rave reviews 5 months ago... but it's really gone downhill. The boxes have become repetitive and not worth the cost. I was emailed a sneak-peak of the April box and liked the contents, so I purchased two so I could gift one. I received one old box that we'd already received months ago, and didn't get the 2nd box... When I emailed the company about the error, they didn't offer to refund me or send out the right box... They emailed me a shipping label and asked me to spend my time/gas to return their error to the post office. As a long-term customer, I'm disappointed and will be canceling my sub. I also have still not received my April box, yet they plan to charge my card tomorrow for May... I'm over it.
Once I did receive the April box, it was missing items that were in the sneak-peak email. The box was worth maybe $15.
This box has been one of my longest running subscriptions. I order it for my fiance, but I end up trying to swipe a lot of the contents. There's some really cool gadgets in there! I love that they emphasize play & self-care for men of any age. I feel like the box always arrives just when it's been an especially exhausting work-week for him and he needs the pick-me-up the most. He's always excited with the contents and that makes every penny worth it.
My daughter enjoys coding and building but said this box didn't come with directions that matched the contents. She wasn't able to complete the project due to missing components and instructions.
2020 Update: The curation of this box and value have gotten much better, so I wanted to update my review. I hope they continue on this path and providing thoughtful boxes with a theme. The packing could still use a little TLC. I still receive boxes with spilled liquid contents. A little water-proof tape or ziploc baggies would go a long way to not ruin the rest of the box's contents.
2019 Review: I've subscribed since 2017. The boxes are either hit or miss, but most commonly a miss. I can honestly say I've received 3 in two years that I really felt were worth $33. I should have just received the August box. Instead, I received the same low-quality box I received in May, but this time was worse since the oil hadn't been packed in a closed plastic bag, so it leaked all over the box and its contents. I had to email multiple times to get a response, which stated they ran out of the August box, so decided to send out old boxes. I can't fathom how that was a good idea... They also don't want to return my $ for the month. They want to give me another box. As I said, I've subscribed since 2017. But, receiving a response is like pulling teeth, so I assume receiving a refund for my undelivered subscription will be as painful.
I've received two boxes so far and I've loved them both. They are packed with extra care and are great additions to my plant hoarding. Both plants I've received have been unique and not something I already have or have seen at local nurseries.
