It's all in the curation with this sub. The Book Drop is like having a personal shopper just for books. I feel like every order was picked out just for me by a good friend. Even when the book isn't something I'd have selected for myself, it's always a stellar read which I enjoy immensely. Also, I like knowing that I'm supporting an independent bookseller. Is this the cheapest way to find new reads? No, but it's one of the most fun if you like a surprise and sometimes enjoy a feeling of exclusivity. Be sure to sign up for their mailing list, too. The Memorial Day Mystery book sale was amazing!
I've been subscribing to the Cat Lady Box (Crazy Cat Lady version, which includes toys for the furkids) since near inception and have yet to be disappointed in the quality and curation of contents. While some items are not perfectly to my taste, everything has been a happy surprise and the selections never fail to make me smile. My cats also love the toys. We haven't received a single toy which at least one of the clowder doesn't adore and they all appear to be high quality; they definitely last through rough play. Speaking of quality, the human intended items are also consistently high end, including the tees. Very impressed! I'm especially fond of the fact that Cat Lady Box gives back to feline charities. Hands down, this is my favorite subscription box.
Received the Petite Box for a while, took a little break, and returned for the full size box. I really like the assortment in this box as there's usually a snack, personal product (such as soap or a spa product), something for the home, an accessory, even something to read in each box. The message in each box is typically one of self love and care without being preachy or misandristic, which is appreciated. The items themselves are, I've found, always useful. Even things not exactly to my taste make for nice little gifts. To be honest, even the items which sometimes seem underwhelming have been great. One month I received, among other items, a travel lint roller and though that initially seemed disappointing it turned out to be an amazing item, as in best lint roller over and truly awesome for travel and work! Also, I feel the value of this box definitely exceeds the cost. I'm sold on Singles Swag so long as they learned their lesson on keeping out the dating site freebie gift cards.
I should write a detailed review but there is just too much delightfulness and perfection here to do The Cactique justice. Just know that the photos and other glowing reviews do not lie: This small business sub box truly is that darling from the shipping box itself to the enclosures to the plants. The quality and thoughtfulness of the packing are simply superb, as well. Seriously, not a grain of potting soil has been displaced in my deliveries. If you're a fan of wee, juicy succulents in unique, handcrafted pots, definitely do not hesitate to sub to The Cactique. You won't be sorry. Also, I think this would make for an awesome gift and perfect sub box for just about anyone, even those with brown thumbs.
The June box was just wow! The deck and canvas tiger folio were absolute standouts and easily equalled the total cost of the box. Everything else, especially the gorgeous tiger bracelet, was just gravy. I'm stunned by the curation of my first regular box. I mean, where did you find that stunning tarot deck? Even the shipping carton was just too cool and totally on theme. I simply cannot wait to receive future boxes.
Update: This sub continues to impress, box after box. The curation is impeccable and always on theme, and I love that the decks vary from traditional tarot to Lenoremand to oracle. I also enjoy the different divination tools I've received, including a gorgeous pendulum. Honestly, this box is one of my top five ever subs.
April's Venom adult lit box was my first from this sub and I LOVE IT! Everything is either 100% useful and/or appealing. That desk light? Exactly what I've been searching for in order to read before bed. The lip scrub, foot and hand scrub, cake-in-a-mug mix, candle, all of it felt like a big, warm hug from a kindred spirit. Then, there's the book -- The Bone Maker -- which is certainly not my typical fare yet I can't put it down! Love the themed curation, the value, and the fact that this sub just feels so personal and so right for me. Am very much looking forward to future boxes.
I started out with the I Don't Give a Hoot option and have enjoyed this sub so much I've converted over to Minimalist But Groovy and added Boho Babe. I'm typically a boring small hoop or pearl stud person but this sub has introduced me to so many new and attractive designs I'd never go out and purchase for myself. My earring wardrobe is definitely better than ever and these earrings never turn green or leave dark smudges on my lobes. And, yes, the price is right and shipping is both on time and secure. Such a fun, affordable sub for pierced earring wearers of all ages.
