Cratejoy Product Update: March 2016

You’ve probably already noticed, but there has been a lot of moving and shaking here at Cratejoy. Our team has been working tirelessly building, testing, collecting seller feedback and reworking features for a better Cratejoy experience.

Something we hear more than anything else is, “How do I know what’s going on over there in Austin, TX? What are the latest features, what’s coming up?” We listened, and want to introduce you to our very first…

Monthly edition of Cratejoy product updates! The goal of these updates is to give our sellers insider information about what has happened over the last month or so, as well as a sneak peak into the things we’re working on next.

Billing and Pricing Schedule Change Tool:

Setting up new billing and pricing schedules is now easier than ever with the Move Subscribers to a New Product feature. In the past, if sellers wanted to change their pricing, move a renewal date, switch from billing all subscriptions once a month to anniversary billing, or make any other seemingly simple changes to their product, they had to move their subscribers over to a newly created product one at a time. Well, not anymore! This new feature allows sellers to change the product for multiple subscriptions all at once, already helping hundreds of sellers save time.

Shipping Address Manager:

Subscribers can now have multiple shipping addresses and easily manage them. This feature took a lot of time and dedication from our engineers, and we’re really proud of the outcome. Gone are the days of subscribers having multiple subscriptions that need to go to different addresses, with no way to manage them. The Shipping Address Manager allows subscribers to manage all their addresses in one place, seamlessly. Learn more about it here.

Marketplace Checkout Version 2.0:

Checkout version 2.0 is being tested right now on the marketplace (check out the mockups here) and it’s going really well! Initial testing of Checkout is happening with a small subset of sellers, and early results are showing a 40% bump in conversion rate. A lot of that is driven by a much better mobile Checkout experience. This version will be rolled out to all stores in the future and once it is standard, we’ll be able to toss the 7-day cookie attribution for the Marketplace (something a lot of sellers have been asking for!), which is a huge step forward. This checkout also collects the email up front, as one of the first steps in the checkout process, making this checkout experience much better for abandoned cart email marketing.

We’ve also added a couple of cool new features to all listing pages:
  • “Contact Seller” link — so customers can get ahold of sellers more easily with any questions they have!
  • “Visit Seller Website” link — for customers who want to learn more about a business listed on the marketplace: a quick way of clicking directly through to a seller’s site. This link is also great for sellers’ SEO, as it’ll pass a bit of Cratejoy’s powerful link juice onto their site. Check both these out here.

On top of that, we’ve rolled out these new platform features as well:

And we’re not stopping there – here’s what’s coming up soon!
  • We’re updating the Analytics Engine to add new reports. This is a collaborative feature, so we’ll be rolling out new reports and asking for your feedback, to build new and better ones.
  • Fraud risk will be displayed in the New Order notification email that is sent to sellers making it easy to identify fraudulent transactions as they happen, in real time.
  • More information in the history log when a subscriber changes their shipping information.
  • Marketplace Checkout is slowly rolling out for all sellers. The first phase will launch with super-simple subscribe flows — so, no multi-variants or surveys… yet. Once we’ve nailed this down, we will move on to the next phase and tackle more complicated survey flows — stay tuned!
  • Addition of an Instagram feed with easy-follow links on individual listing pages. This will allow customers to see (and follow!) all the beautiful images being shared on our seller’s Instagram accounts. Instagram provides solid social proof that a business has raving fans and customers, which helps to build buyer trust.
