Q: Where do you get your items from?Asked by Mona F., August 2019
We're based in Clearwater, Florida so all of our secondhand clothing comes
from local thrift stores around the Clearwater/Tampa area. There are times
I travel to other cities like Miami and north Florida and I'm able to
thrift in these areas but that's only about twice a year. We plan to open
up other cities to thrift in the next year, but for right now it's mainly
concentrated in the Clearwater/Tampa area. Thank you for your interest!
Q: Can the seller do plus size clothing?Asked by Emily C., May 2019
Yes. But, there were kinks in the products delivered. I asked for 2X or 3X for my mother. She got some items that were size 16 on the label. But, other items fit correctly.
I'm sorry I tried to respond earlier but it did not display my post. Yes, we do plus size clothing up to 20W and 3XL. Thank you for your interest!
Thanks, Raina for sharing your experience. We now make sure that everything we send is true to size up to a 3XL. We appreciate your feedback.
Q: Do you do these for men?Asked by Evan H., July 2019
Yes! We offer men's styling as well. Just select the picture that fits your
style the most and we'll follow up with additional questions and
suggestions so we can pinpoint your look. We also list men's sizing in our
survey. There is a recent review on our marketplace from a male client if
Thank you for your interest!
Q: Do you charge if none of the items work for me? Aka, a styling fee?Asked by Melody K., September 2019
Thank you for your interest in our thrift boxes! You're guaranteed vintage
with our Vintage Box. However, it's only sometimes that we're able to
source vintage for our Thrift Box and Deluxe Box clients. However, you can
request that every box include vintage and I will try my hardest to find
vintage for you every month. Or we have some clients that subscribe to both
our Thrift Box and Vintage Box to ensure that receive vintage. There is a
$25 non-refundable styling fee that is paid for when you checkout (included
in the price). We refund $10 back for every item you didn't like in your
box. You also have the option for an exchange and we can include more
pieces in your next month's box if desired.
I’ve tried a few personal stylists / subscription boxes before and been largely disappointed by the results. (For context, my style is colorful, eclectic and a little oddball.) Enter Julia, who stared deep into my soul and understood that I was a gal in need of a vintage ice cream skirt (and two vintage sweaters and a fabulous dress and a bedazzled Tory Burch jacket, all pictured). She NAILED IT, and I couldn’t be happier.
Re: customer service: During the ordering process, I screwed up my CrateJoy survey, so Julia didn’t receive my specs or Pinterest style board, resulting in my first box being expertly curated, but not for me. Once we figured out what happened, she was quick to resolve the matter – even though it was my fault, not hers – which was super awesome and appreciated. In sum: A happy customer who cannot recommend this service enough.
This box brings something I’ve not seen with any other clothing subscription box yet, and that’s an option to get some vintage pieces from your favorite era! I love the idea of getting some 70’s style in my closet.
I just received my 1st box. It contained 2 tops, a pair of jeans and a dress. The items and colors are appropriate for the current season. My favorite item is the Lane Bryant jeans I received! They fit me really well and went great with the tops. The dress is very pretty, I love the little miniature rose pattern on it. I had one top that didn't fit me well and will be having to return it. The box even included a return shipping label which makes it really convenient if something does not work out.
I recommend on giving them a try. Snag a vintage piece you've been craving or get an outfit without the stress of trying to find something yourself. Plus, isn't it nice to have someone else pick out something especially for you?
I love my curated thrift box.
I wore the body suit, pants with suspenders, denim jacket and flower earrings. Love. My 18 old daughter loved it so much. It’s hers now. I love the black skinny jeans but, they are too large. I contacted support and received an email within one day. I returned them using the label that was included in my box.
The dress that was picked for me fit perfect. I'm very happy with it and will continue with my subscription.
I definitely recommend this box. Items are good quality and stylish. I am really happy! A wonderful surprise every month.
I'm only one box into a 6-month subscription, but the first box was pretty great for a first attempt! 3 of the 4 are in my regular rotation--a plaid blouse & 2 sweaters (gray and black). Not normally things I would pick out for myself, but they look great on and add something different to my wardrobe. Julia was very quick to answer my email regarding returning the 4th piece, and adding a note to my profile.
After having tried StitchFix (EXTREMELY hit-or-miss with me; and far pricier...not to mention I really prefer vintage anyway) and even ThredUp's "Goody Box" (also very hit-or-miss), it seems like A Curated Thrift already understands me better! Can't wait for my next box!
I just signed up with A Curated Thrift in November, and just received my second box. I am plus sized, and don't really enjoy shopping. I never seem to find things that fit, or that come in colors I like. So I was thrilled when I was able to email my Curator a list of my measurements, a link to my Pinterest, and an idea of the sorts of things, colors, and patterns I do and don't wear so someone else is on the case for me.
I think it was definitely worth the extra time to email my Curator a full list of my actual measurements. I may take an XL, 16, 18, 20, or 2X depending on the brand. But with a list of my measurements in hand, A Curated Thrift can check the actual dimensions against my real numbers so I know whatever I get will be in the ball park. And everything is returnable, if something comes that doesn't fit the way I like.
My Curator said that I should let her know if there was anything specific I was interested in, and I mentioned that I was looking for a tweedy professor-type jacket to throw over sweaters this winter, and they found me just the thing! They also included a slinky dressy shirt and soft funky 3/4 sleeve jacket that goes with it perfectly.
So glad I signed up, and looking forward to January's box already!
Julia has been absolutely a joy to collaborate with. This really is a personal styling service disguised as a subscription box. Her kindness and caring attention to my specifications were fantastic. Since I'm a Canadian subscriber and returns are just too much bother I sent detailed measurements, and was so gratified and grateful when all of the items she sent me fit like a dream. There is a really top shelf level of care and commitment in Julia's approach that cannot be understated. My expectations were set high by the reviews I read, and the experience was just as great as I hoped. Shipping was stress-free as it was sent with tracking, and I got notifications all the way along about when I could expect my package. Second hand is so important to me, since there's so many things out there already and I love that this value is expressed with no compromise to style through Julia's approach. Bravo. Can't wait to continue my subscription journey!
I love getting things that I may not otherwise try. Some are hits, some are misses. But it is fun!
I have continually tell the stylist what not to and what to put it my package. They just seem to not lesson.
I'm truly sorry you were disappointed with your boxes. You gave neutral feedback on your first box and told me the colors you didn't want me to include in your box which I thought I made sure not to include in your second box. You also let me know you were petite and so I selected styles based on your body type. I'm not sure where we got it so wrong so please let me know right away and we will change this immediately. We want to make things right as this rarely happens. We definitely appreciate your feedback even though it is negative. Please feel free to return any pieces that didn't work out using the free return shipping label included in the...
This box includes four curated pieces that can be worn together or on their own. If you have a birthday you receive five pieces instead of four! Sometimes if it's your first month you get a free piece as well. This is a November birthday box for one of our Deluxe clients. She selected the Minimalist style but this could also be considered Modern Sophisticate. It included two tops, a black knit and white woven, burnt sienna colored pants, a scarf and velvet loafers.

This is one of our 90s boxes that went out this month. It includes one carefully selected piece that's unique from that era. Value is normally between $25-$40. This client specified that she loved grunge and funky styles from that era. We also offer 90s minimalist looks too if you select that era.
This is one of our Deluxe clients that selected Librarian Chic as one of her style choices that we offer. This can also be considered Casual Chic or Modern Sophisticate depending on your specific style needs. Just select your style and we'll work with you to pick out the perfect look! The box included four pieces, this plum-colored trench with tortoiseshell hardware, a jewel tone blouse and grey leopard skinny pants with black leather boots (boots not pictured).
This can be considered one of our Librarian Chic styles or Boho styles. A 90's oversized sweater and satin maxi skirt.
This is one of our Thrift Box clients who selected Casual Chic as one of her styles. It was her birthday so we included a free mini 90s backpack purse since she specified in her style survey that she loved 90s vintage. This box included suede boots, an oversized 90s sweater, and backpack purse.
This was one of our new clients that selected Punk/Grunge as one of their styles. Since she was a first time client we included a free turtleneck with her 80s jacket. She specified that she enjoyed 80s vintage and punk t-shirts. Normally this box includes two curated pieces shipped to your door every month.
This is one of our clients that specified a Modern Sophisticate in her style survey. This box could also represent a Minimalist style as well. It included a printed blouse, slacks, a pretty white blouse, and a red holiday dress. All styles were shipped in our compostable mailer you see pictured here on the rack.
This is an example of our March 'Indie Grunge' look. We love to include vintage in our boxes, so this one included a few 90s pieces. The box includes four pieces, a lightweight flannel, black knit crop top, silver knit short sleeve top and Lee Rider denim jeans from the 90s (high-waisted and tapered).
This is an example of our March 'Minimalist' Deluxe Box. Our Deluxe Box includes four secondhand pieces curated according to your size, style, and fit preference. This is someone that loved flowy blouses, chose minimalist as her style and 'Classic Casual' as her secondary style.
