Q: Hello, Is the Bibliophilic Excursions crate appropriate for a 13 year old girl?Asked by Shariese B., May 2019
Not if you actually want them to receive the gift! my first shipment came and then none of the others I paid for. I contacted the seller numerous times and finally had to contact cratejoy refunded my full order because even they could not get a response from the seller. you would do better to find a different box that will actually deliver and respond to issues.
It probably would be if they were reliable. I received two boxes that were very nice but they never shipped the third box, which they billed me for, and they were getting ready to bill me for the fourth box. I tried contacting them three times with no response. Cratejoy refunded the one month I was charged for. The concept is really cool, but I’d stay away from them if I were you.
Yes, it is appropriate and also a great idea! I subscribe to it and I have given both individual boxes as well as subscriptions as gifts. My 13 year old son does the unboxing with me because he likes the concept and product. The theme of the box and the extras make them quite enjoyable. Some of our unboxing videos are online, but we don’t always post. I hope this is helpful!
I am extremely pleased with Bibliophilic Excursions. I received my books and goodies on time as promised. I choose the Signature Journey Box and I am excited to read both of the books that were sent to me. The other items that they sent appear to be thoughtfully chosen and they are of a good quality. The box is personalized with a hand written note and packaged nicely.
I also ordered the Grab Bag box and I was very impressed with this box too. Once again, they sent quality items along with the book. I am thrilled with this subscription and I am so glad that I found Bibliophilic Excursions!!
All destinations are wonderful and complete with variety of unique and authentic gifts from that country! The recent box of Australia with the hand painted boomerang was an exciting gift to own! Thank you for keeping my around the world curiously alive!
Didn’t get a box for about two and a half months and couldn’t get email responses. Then I received two boxes in a single day. Items were broken and didn’t make much sense for the destination. Skip this one. Coffee and a Classic or The Wordy Traveler are both much better (and reliable) choices!
Best gift ever! I recently received the Denmark-themed box and was blown away by the beautiful books and all of the cool and unique items that were curated - from Hygge inspired socks, pancake ball recipe on a beautiful trivet, a gorgeous tea towel of Kronborg castle, a porcelain nightlight and many more prints and bookmarks. In addition, I loved the personalized note with fun historical facts about the country.
I see a few negative reviews here and just want to say that the Seller very transparently explained that the issue was with suppliers in the applicable country, but those have been resolved, so if you are looking for a truly memorable bookish travel experience, then this is definitely for You!
They worked with me to get a custom box for my friend’s surgery AND were so great about getting it delivered exactly on the date I requested. I’ve had two of these as gifts and they are so much better than flowers or candy. It’s so fun to open them. I’ll always send in place of flowers.
I did receive my first box and it was super cool! I had a question about it so I message the seller and did receive a reply. I followed up with another question to which I received no response. I let that go and waited for my second shipment. It never came. I messaged the seller 3 times about my missing shipment and got absolutely no reply. Currently I am working with cratejoy to get a refund. In the meantime, I definitely got charged $136 for three shipments and only received one of them. Fortunately I listened to the advice of another reviewer who also had a bad experience and I put it on my credit card. So if cratejoy doesn't fix the issue next week, I will be getting a refund from my credit card. So while the Box itself was really cool, I strongly encourage everyone to find a different box shipment. Since this seller cannot be bothered to actually ship the boxes after you pay for them. Which kind of makes me question the quality of what was actually in my box. It looked cool, but can you trust it when the seller is obviously deceitful? Which is what I would call taking money for three months of shipments and then refusing to send anything past the first month. Fortunately, my credit card has great customer service.
I received a child book, the other items may have cost $20 and didn't feel anything like an excursion. I have contacted three times now to cancel my subscription, instead, it was renewed and no one has contacted me yet.
I love Bibliophilic Excursions! I’m a bibliophile and I appreciate the thought and care given to each personalized item. The books are always great reads. The themed gift items that accompany the books (hand-written card, support of “mom & pop” business worldwide) are heartwarming reminders of why I love reading and travel. The personal touch is fabulous, and this is my go to gift choice for colleagues, family and friends. It’s also easy and realible to gift. Even the teens in my life love to receive the boxed set, and I love seeing them enjoy a good read!
I want to CANCEL this subscription as a gift. It was reported that something within the box was putrid and the recipient threw it all out. She got a pair of socks, bookmark, matchbook with bone, soapstone animal of some sort, 2 French crepes, mushroom from Mexico, another box of rancid items. This is not what a mostly home bound 80 year would like nor I. Please give me a refund. I will pay for the 1 box but not the other 2. Please adjust credit. What a disappointment!!!
I just received my first box and absolutely love it. I've received other subscription boxes and usually like some of the items, but with Bibliophilic Excursions, I loved everything. Customer service is also great, I asked a lot of questions before ordering and was answered quickly .Thank you!!

Denmark is known for extraordinarily happy citizens so we’ve chosen two books we think will bring a little Danish delight to your life! Our fiction selection is Often I am Happy and our non-fiction selection is The Little Book of Hygge. Customers also received items influence by the concept of Hygee including a tea towel with a design of Kronborg Castle; a cheeseboard; a nightlight; a collage featuring a famous Dane; black licorice; and a cozy pair of socks.
Every now and then here at Bibliophilic Excursions, we select a special edition location. This year, NASA reached a milestone when two Americans, tasked with replacing a power controller, ventured out of the International Space Station: the astronauts, Christina Koch and Jessica Meir, became the first to take part in an all-female spacewalk! In honor of this historic achievement, we’ve connected with other women-owned small businesses to curate a solar system excursion!
