Q: Can you explain why this is designated for "black girls"? I know lots of Hispanic, white, Asian.... Girls who would enjoy and benefit from a math box. Maybe I'm missing something. Please enlighten me.... Sincerely!Asked by Jean M., June 2019
Hi Jean! Thanks so much for this question. It's one we love to answer! The Black Girl MATHgic Box is for ALL girls, regardless of race or ethnic background. With the business title and imagery included in the box, there is a focus on black girls because they endure unique struggles as a double minority and sit at the intersection of persistent racial and gender gaps in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
As a black woman, I sought to create...
Sorry, Brittany! I saw the name, Bertha, on the next question and thought that was yours. My apologies.
Jean!!
Thank you Bertha, for taking the time to explain. I agree with everything you said. I've worked in education for over 25 years, mostly in high risk areas, with 98% minorities. It's a huge need and I'm thrilled to see such a fun yet challenging offer out there. I guess I just thought we were past the need to specify color. I'm not sensitive to many things but when a person's color is called out, for some reason it...
Q: I've been excited for this for a while! I have two daughters who can both benefit from these boxes. Is one box suited to work in pairs and if not do you have a bundle package for siblings? What would you advise in this situation?Asked by Bertha O., June 2019
Hi Bertha! Each box comes with materials for one child. If one girl is on a 3rd-5th grade level and the other is on a 6th-8th grade level, we recommend buying two separate boxes because there are some variations in the activities. However, if they are on the same grade level, please hit the 'contact seller' button on the bottom right hand corner and we will get you taken care of!
Q: Hi. I wanted to know if you will be creating a box for boys. Asked by Kayfia G., October 2020
Hi Kayfia! Thanks so much for your note! Yes, we are working on a boy box - we had planned to launch it this year but COVID threw off those plans. We are aiming for next year. Please join our e-mail list (go to the Contact Seller link on this page and send us a message and we'll get set up!) so we can let you know as soon as the boy box drops! Thank you!
Q: Will you have new boxes after your one-year anniversary? I see that we can purchase formerly released boxes, but I was not sure if that will be necessary if I start a new subscription. Asked by Sheri H., June 2020
Hi Sheri! Yes, the party will keep on going after the one-year anniversary! The July box is our official anniversary box and will have an extra goodie! If you need anything else, please feel free to message me at the "Contact Seller" button!
