A subscription box for readers who can't get enough great sci-fi and fantasy. Each month we present a selection of 3 or more brand new books for your reading pleasure!
Q: Are these brand new releases or just new books that have different release dates?Asked by Tonya L., August 2020
I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you asking are they all newly printed just for Cratejoy? If so, the answer is not yet -- when we get to 500 subscribers, that will be necessary.
These are with very few exceptions all books published by Wildside Press in some capacity over the last 40 years. Some are older (for example, last month's books included a copy of the hardcover limited edition of Cooking Out of This World, edited by Anne McCaffrey -- about 35 years old -- since we turned up a crate of them in storage). Others have been from a couple of years ago...and most fall in between. Right now demand is still small enough that we can fill everything from our existing...
Q: Because I am looking into purchasing this service for my Husband who is in Prison and only allowed paperback books, it is possible to make sure all books each month are paperbacked?Asked by David G., April 2020
Unfortunately, some boxes do contain hardcover books. 3 or the first 4 boxes had hardcovers.
Q: Can you buy copies of previous crates?Asked by Gary S., April 2020
Unfortunately, we do not offer past boxes. However, some of the content from past boxes is available to purchase a la carte.
Q: What is the cost for shipping to the UK? Will import taxes be charged?Asked by Brinley C., January 2020
Due to the high weight (3.5 pounds for the Dragon themed book crate, for instance) shipping internationally is prohibitively expensive. $61.50 would be the price to ship this box of books via first international mail. Taxes are not prepaid on these crates, so you would also have to pay them.
It might make more sense for your to subscribe and use the address of a remailing service (one that ships packages in bulk to your home country from the U.S., then...
We've gotten 3 boxes now and are loving this subscription. The quantity & variety of books is fantastic. We've enjoyed discovering new authors & stories. You can tell that these boxes are put together thoughtfully, and with loving care by people who appreciate this literary space.
I loved this box! It contained new editions of stories I'd read with beautiful illustrations. It also had some that I hadn't read before. The books were well made and arrived in pristine condition.
I love this box it has a variety of different books. There is always at least one signed book. In my last crate I received two signed book's. I recommend this subscription
You billed me but never sent me my books. Please cancel my subsription.
My husband purchased this monthly box for me as a Mother's Day gift and I couldn't be happier!! Each month, the boxes have been nothing short of exceptional! I look forward to seeing the box on my doorstep that first week of the month (usually by the 1st, unless it falls on a weekend) and I'm always filled with anticipation as I open the box to see what uniquely intriguing books lie inside! Wildside Press has done an excellent job curating these boxes and I'd like to thank them for making my months more exciting and interesting! I was exceptionally pleased with July's selection...the graphic art/pixel art collection was truly out of this world!!! Much Love, Rebecca xx
Our February box celebrates fairy tales, with a new classic by Anne McCaffrey, No One Noticed the Cat, plus Tanith Lee's expanded edition of Red as Blood, or Tales of the Sisters Grimmer.
Our March 2020 box celebrates Dragons and Other Magical Creatures—and will feature at least 3 great books (hardcover and trade paperback) featuring some of our favorites!
