I've been a member for two years and I really value my subscription to BOTM. I have collected 40 books and have always found something that interests me, though not every month. Their customer service is amazing; the two issues Ive had with books were remedied immediately. I don't like how long the shipping takes, but in the end, the price is worth it.
I generally found myself not that excited about any of the monthly selections, which is why I quit. A lot of them are still sitting on my shelf. I think you're better off just selecting your own book to purchase every month.
I love Book of the Month Club. I get it every month and have never passed on a month. It has really gotten me out of my comfort zone of reading the same authors over and over again. I always highly recommend it. However, the last few months shipping has been horrendous. It takes almost two weeks for my box to get to me. I hope they resolve their shipping issue soon.
I do really love BOTM. They just take all the work out of having to find something to read and get it. I know it sounds lazy but honestly I always think I'm going to start reading again and I don't because I never make it to the bookstore or the library. The curation is pretty good - I've gotten one book I didn't like and another I thought was just ok. But that said, I did read them both to the end so they honestly weren't bad! They always have about one book per month from a writer of color or queer writer - definitely should have more.
I love to read and Book of the Month books are great hardback books that are delivered to you monthly. Some months the book choices are great, others are more limited in choice. The price is a bit high. It would be great to have a paperback version option for a lower cost.
