When you sign up you get charged right away. Everyone else is charged on the 1st.

I've tried many outdoor subscription boxes but I've had the best luck with Cairn. Each month, I receive a small collection of outdoor gear and it is usually very useful. Over the years, I've only had a couple of duds that I ended up reselling or giving away. Cairn does a great job at selecting products and communicating their vision for outdoor engagement to their customers.
