Craftsman Crate was born when our sons (we have six!) told us there was nothing available for guys who wanted hands-on projects. Well, now there is. And it's not just for guys or teens, either! This is the most convenient way ever to try out new hobbies, use your hands to create, learn skills you can keep using, and have fun, too! Ages 12+
Q: Trying to get an answer on when my first box will be shipped and if they are able to tell me the theme. So far no response and second email sent. So far bad experience. Asked by Erica J., November 2020
I apologize that you did not receive our responses! CrateJoy's messaging system has been messed up and our responses have not been forwarded as they were supposed to be. (The messages we receive do not have your email address, just a CrateJoy forwarding address). We just discovered this in the past week when a customer contacted us through another channel.
As I'm sure you know by now, your package was delivered on November 16th.
As for Leilani's comment, she contacted us at 9:38pm one night. In the literal ten minutes it took me to look into her situation and answer her, she posted all these "answers" to threads. Twenty minutes later, when I checked, CrateJoy had forwarded my message back to me instead of her,...
They lie, anyway. They advertised candle making for December, and I just received basket weaving, which a lot of people have complained about. I can't express how disappointed and upset I am. It shipped late, too. Don't waste your time or money. I recommend you cancel your subscription. Bad product and bad customer service.
Q: I am becoming increasingly frustrated that a box I ordered in Nov., for a Christmas gift has still not arrived! Tracking info hasn’t been updated since Dec. 24th! Unacceptable.Asked by Linda R., January 2021
I hate it, too, but we have no control over shipments once they are in the hands of the postal system or the carrier, sadly. This has been the most frustrating shipping season we've ever experienced. I remember one shipment that checked in at our local post office, the regional distribution center, the distribution center near the customer, then went on a trip around the country! I have no idea what has happened to our postal service. I am really hoping that next year is better. I am so so so sorry your package was affected by all this!
Q: I want to get a three month subscription as a Christmas gift; Can I get the first box sent to me and the rest sent to the recipient?Asked by Clara G., November 2019
Yes! You would put in your own address as the shipping address, then as soon as you receive the first shipment, go into your account and change the shipping address. We'll ship them wherever you say!
Certainly! Just put in your address at first, then change it once you receive the first crate. We're always glad to help, too! ~Melanie with Craftsman Crate
Q: I'm considering a 3 month subscription as a gift for my father. Is there a way to select which boxes he'll receive to make sure it would be of interest since we can only do 3 months worth?Asked by Tammy G., November 2021
Normally, we do not reveal what the crate is going to be each month because we've had so many subscribers say, "I would never have chosen that crate for myself, but it ended up being my favorite!" That's part of the fun - getting to try a new hobby every month.
Email me directly at info(at)greatwaterspress(dot)com, though, because I may have thought of a workaround for you!

I contacted Craftsman Crate after ordering to let them know of a special situation with my husband who the crate was for. They contacted me with a couple questions to make sure we all were on the same page. They sent out the perfect crate and quickly! My husband absolutely enjoyed doing this project and has enough left to do a second and maybe a third batch as well. Highly recommend!! Thank you Craftsman Crate!
I got my first box and I'm not even sure what the point of it is or what it even makes. It's a bunch of tiny circles to link together.. I'm not seeing much interest in working on it.
I just got my fifth box in the mail yesterday and I have to say that this one knocked it out of the park for me! I understand that not all boxes are going to be hits, but with that in mind this kit gets me to step out of my box and learn new things that I otherwise would have never tried. If you want to try new things and learn new crafting skills this box will be perfect for you. I have a very curious mind and always want to try new things, this box allows me to do that without having to break the bank by purchasing all of the tools and what-nots needed for a new craft just for me to discover it's not really for me.
The Craftsman Crate team is made of wonderful people. The boxes i received were very interesting. It was crafts and skills I never would've thought of to try. I thoroughly enjoyed each box I got. I will subscribe again when my finances are in a better situation.
This month’s crate was serendipitous. For the past few months I’ve been looking online for quilling kits. And, surprise, the crate contained a quilling kit. It’s like you read my mind. Thank you. Hint: I’m also interested in wood burning, wood carving and embroidery. Just to name a few.
We got our first craftsman crate this week. Everything we needed to complete as many as 12 projects was included. Lots of wood for carving, lots of sand paper, a nice set of carving tools and a hand drill, plus a really nice book loaded with ideas and templates for wood carving. My 15 year old son was so inspired he started carving immediately. Well done craftsman crate!! We're excited to get our next crate just sad that we have to wait a whole month!!
A little disappointed with our first crate. Was a bit on the cheap side. Hoping for a better box next month. Waaaay bellow the $30 paid.
Craftsman Crate is a great monthly box if you want to try out a new craft. It provides challenging hands on fun for boys and girls!
If you don't love your new project, you haven't overly invested!
Love the boxes
It was fun. I especially enjoyed having 2 items to do as the first can always be rough on a new skill
