Q: Does each mystery box build on the last, or are there new mysteries every time?Asked by Michelle J., April 2019
Each box is it's own self-contained mystery, requiring no knowledge of prior boxes. However, there are some very minor references and easter eggs that are fun for people who have done multiple boxes (and they are so minor that you miss nothing if you don't even get them). Again, no knowledge of prior boxes is needed. Each stands alone. That was a big concern for me, too, when I was deciding on what box to subscribe to, so I understand...
Each of our boxes are stand-alone mysteries. They all take place within the same universe so you will see characters or locations appear in multiple boxes. But they are not written where you have to solve one box before solving another.
No, each month is different.
Each box is a brand-new mystery.
Q: Can I have the first box of a gift subscription sent to me (so I can give it as a gift) and then have the others sent directly to gift recipient?Asked by Ann-marie C., November 2022
Sure, you can make changes to your account at anytime or our customer service department will be more than happy to help you with this.
Q: How do you make sure that you don’t get the same games you’ve already gotten in the past if you order again?Asked by Greg M., September 2022
Each month we release a new box that has never been seen before. So, there is no risk of receiving something you've already gotten.

I've been a customer since the beginning. I love the all-in-one monthly boxes. I've collected every box released but until this year, I never completed any. Completing a box by myself seemed impossible so I never tried. lol But now I have monthly murder mystery nights with my friends and we have a huge collection to choose from so we're never bored. DMS boxes are a great way to spend a Saturday night with friends. Highly recommend DMS over all the other subscription boxes.
Thank you so much for the recommendation, Amanda! We really appreciate it and if you ever get stuck on anything that feels impossible to you, feel free to reach out on the Deadbolt Mystery Society Hint Group on Facebook or go to the Hint files located on our website.
I only found Deadbolt Mystery Society last month and completed my first box. I just wished I knew about this company sooner! I love the engaging storylines, props, and materials that come in the box. Looking forward to future boxes!
