Didn’t love this one like I usually do. The body wash was a repeat from last year, the hat was cute but made for a child sized head and the cinnamon candies were not a hit. The face salve smells waxy and I only wear white gold and silver jewelery so I can’t use the bracelets. All in all, I wish I had skipped this one guys.
Very frustrated that I've reached out many times and haven't heard back yet and my box shipped even though I was asking about allergies. The box had a lot of decent items that I'll be unable to use.
It was very expensive for what you got from it. Will not be buying it again.
Wonderful gifts for a loved one!
I am sorry to say this but this box is not worth the high cost. The items were cute but the quality was not there.
Thank you for your review, Peggy! We're deeply sorry we missed the mark with your hopebox. Will you forgive us? Let's connect and see what we can do to make it right.
They really should be upfront about their religious products. I had no idea. I was raised Catholic and have trauma connected to the church. I will be cancelling my subscription.
Thank you for this review, Kristen. Just heartbreaking that an institution like the church--what should have been the safest place in the world--was a source of trauma for you. Truly awful. Some here on our team--including one of Hopebox's founders and many of our handmade makers--are people of faith who have suffered childhood trauma in church settings as well. After years of healing, each has come to see that their pain was not from God, but that their comfort could be. Everyone, of course, comes to Hopebox with unique experiences and sensitivities, some of which are quite serious. For this reason, we work carefully to craft every box in such a way that it will deliver a hopegiving experience to every receiver. We have hundreds...
They are not upfront about the religious themed products. So I get a lovely box, but with things that don’t apply to me. Had I known this I would not have ordered it. It’s not an issue that the box has religious themes, it’s an issue that they don’t put that in the description. Now I have items that I’ve paid for that are of no use to me. I let them know this in an email exchange, but there was no offer to allow me to return the box, or even to refund me partially for the items I would not use. I see they still have not added it to the description, and that’s what prompted me to leave this review for others. I get a lot of subscription boxes, and there are often things I don’t like in them. However, if the description is accurate that’s the chance you take. When it’s misleading, that’s not on me, that’s on the seller who purposely leaves out pertinent information. I see several people commenting on this, so why are you being intentionally deceitful??? PUT IT IN YOUR DESCRIPTION ALREADY. This is just wrong.
Edit on 11/28/2019: I wanted to add that is this actually a wonderfully curated box. It’s beautifully put together and thoughtful. If you are a Christian or have a loved one who is Christian, this is one of the best boxes with Christian themes out there, I just can’t recommend a box that is not up front...
Thank you for this review, Hope! We love your heart, both in this review and in the others you've done on Cratejoy, for giving subscribers the full scoop on the subscription box world! Regarding your Hopebox experience, we're bummed that you're bummed! We certainly don't aim to mislead. As is the case with many small businesses, Hopebox's founders are people of faith. Although a box will occasionally include an item with subtle Christian themes, every box is carefully curated to deliver a hopegiving experience to every receiver. Our premium candles, bath+body products, treats, snuggly pals, jewelry... even the little handwritten notes on the inside of the lid are there to be enjoyed by all receivers no matter what their religious beliefs may be. While we're...
Frankly, I'm disappointed. Also why was this not advertised as Christian?
Wasn't good for self care or hope and definitely wasn't worth the cost.
I don’t know what to do with the knitted pie slice. It has nothing to do with self care. Everything else is okayish. Will give it one more try next month.
Thank you for the feedback, Brittany! It's a great reminder that we need to do a better job telling the heartfelt stories of handmade love that go into each treasure--especially this month's crochet pumpkin pie slice! Our wonderful, US-based makers spent hours on each handmade pie making sure each fluffy pal would bring a smile to the college student, cancer patient, bereaved parent, birthday girl, or anyone else who received it. We wish you every blessing this Thanksgiving season!
I really wanted to like the Hope box but I feel I didn't get what was advertised. I got this for my boyfriend. Inside the box were a lot of female and Christian items. I wish they made the box gender neutral and did not include jewelry. Also, he is not Christian so he felt aliented by many of the Bible phrases in some of the different items. I also wished there were more useful or interactive items like in previous boxes. The June one had more decoration items that didn't really focus on "hope" like a tiny piece of wood that had a heart on it. Overall, not happy but a few of the items were good like the crocheted bumblebee.
I ordered this box because I'm grieving for my young daughter. They did send it quickly but when I got the box it was mostly knick knacks and a bunch of different cards and a book that looks like it was for a young child to read and a cheap necklace and a cheap bracelet and the candle was okay and the socks were too small it look like it was a box for a child not a grieving mother I don't recommend this box especially for the money. EDIT: Didn't care for the box. I did one review already and they wrote me and asked me if I would please revise it. They said that the women that spend an hour on the necklace made of broken china would be heartbroken. As far as the necklace goes. I had someone look at it that makes homemade jewelry and they said it look stamped and ceramic that the chain was not good quality. But you should try it and judge for yourself I suppose. Maybe she was wrong and isn't familiar with broken china. I did think the necklace was very pretty. I also like the candle. But I tried on that necklace and wore it for about 15 minutes and it I got a itchy rash on the back of my neck because I'm allergic to nickel.A lot of people seem to like this box but I didn't like it personally. I don't understand the whole bee theme. It wasn't...
Dear Sarah, as we have expressed in both your hopebox note and our email correspondence, we are devastated to hear about the loss of your sweet daughter. No parent should have to experience the terrible pain you are feeling at this moment. And we are sorry that your hopebox and its handmade items did not provide the comfort you desire and deserve. A full refund was submitted moments after receiving your first note. May the God of all comfort give you what we could not, and please do let us know if there is anything the Hopebox family can do to support you during the difficult weeks and months ahead.
