Kokumo has proven itself to be worth much more than we are paying for it. Its most valuable educational asset is the activity which goes along with each box. My niece is getting hands-on training in science, technology, engineering, art, and math. But, get this: She is genuinely enjoying the learning process!!! In addition to learning about the magnificent Dr. Daniel Hale Williams, she engaged in a creative activity that mimicked clearing a clogged artery. Kokumo will help elevate your child, grandchild, niece, nephew, cousin, and/or good friend to higher spheres of learning. (Kokumo will also enlighten the adult(s) helping their loved one(s) with the activities.)
My children and I have thoroughly enjoyed learning about prominent African American figures that have made such a tremendous impact on society! The kids especially enjoy doing the recommended activities using the supplies provided in each box.
You are getting exceptional quality for a reasonable price. We look forward to getting our package every month! :-)
My 10-year-old and I love Kokumo. He's getting skeptical of my sneaky attempts to add enrichment to his life, but Kokumo won him over from the very first box, which let him plant moringa seeds. He loves the activities and I love the history lessons. I have a feeling we'll be a Kokumo family for years to come.
This box highlighted the magnificent contributions of Imhotep, a mathematical and architectural genius who designed the world's first pyramid in Khemet, modern-day Egypt.
Wangari Maathai received a Nobel Prize for her tenacious work combatting deforestation and planting trees in her beloved country, Kenya. This box teaches the elements of a tree and the importance of trees in our lives. We even planted trees with the materials provided in this box!
Daniel Hale Williams performed the first documented open heart surgery in the Western Hemisphere! And we have created a fun activity that examines the anatomy of the heart, blood flow and the life of this remarkable man.
