Q: Under shipping policy, it says "Orders placed today ship by January 15" but above that, in red, it states "order by December 17 and get it by Christmas". Which is it?Asked by Sandi M., December 2021

I definitely see how that might confuse someone :)
I appreciate you bringing that to my attention. To answer your question, All orders that are placed on or before the 17th (maybe later) will likely make it there before Christmas. Cratejoy automatically put January 15th, and on a normal month it would be true, however due to the holidays we do our shipping all throughout the month. So feel free to put your order in.

What a bummer. I ordered 3 months of this box and only received one. I normally reserve my reviews for when I've received at least a few months of a box, but since I needed to contact Cratejoy support just to get a refund after 4 months had passed...
The box I did receive had 2 books that I would consider consistent with the overall box theme, but they were not related (a book on medieval warfare and one on Napoleon, both gently used). The 3rd book was a collection of "humorous" stories from the early 1900s. The book was in kind of rough shape and definitely had some racist overtones throughout. While I would normally accept this as a glimpse into the past, it would have been more palatable had it come with other pieces of work that helped expand on the social norms of that time or historical happenings.
The gift included was a random New York Yankees pocket notebook.
I feel like this had the potential to be a really great idea for a box, but the execution and customer support are supremely lacking.

Two disappointing boxes in a row. Received 3 garage-sale quality books per $50 box (x2 boxes = 6 books for ~$100) so far and not a single book would I give to the intended recipient.
Nothing close to what appears in the photos like Civil War, ancient civilizations or world leaders. For example, how does the book “Warren Buffet and the Interpretation of Financial Statements” qualify as “history of the world?”
Books came covered with plastic food wrap and then wrapped in brown paper held together by packing tape. No explanation. No gift message. No seller business card or mention of subscription or theme of books.
Requested alternate shipping address for first box only (to be able to give first box as a gift) but all shipments were sent to me. This turned out for the best because I would have been so embarrassed if the recipient received a package of such poor quality in the mail. Unfortunately, I wasted ~$150 on this plus the cost of a new gift.
