During the American Revolution, General George Washington employed a ring of spies in and around New York City, the headquarters for the British war effort in North America. These spies identified themselves in their letters by code numbers. One was known as "355," which stood for "lady." To date, her true identity remains unknown. Q: Is there a way to purchase past boxes? I would like to get one of these for my grandmother to kinda brighten her day but would like to pick a genre/book that I think she would like. Is that possible? Asked by Sarah F., March 2020
Any past boxes they have for sale are in their shop on their main website.
Q: Are the books always some type of romance or love story?Asked by Trish O., May 2019
Book genres range each month, though the only time we've included a specific romance book is in our Valentine's Day box! Most other month's we've included mystery, historical fiction, contemporary fiction, and magical realism in our adult box, while young adult is a bit broader, featuring fantasy, sci-fi, contemporary, mystery, and more!
It main genre isn't romance but there may be a love interest or romance within the books. The adults box is usually historical fiction, contemporary, magical realism and thriller-like book. YA box are broader like Logan said. Mystery, Sci-Fi, Contemporary, Fantasy, etc.
Q: Does this gift tailor to mostly young adults only? I was thinking I would get it for my grandmother, but wasnt sure if she would like the books.Asked by Paul K., June 2019
You would probably want to order the Adult books for your grandmother. I'm 57 and that's what I read. Every now and then, though, there's a Young Adult book that sounds interesting and I will order that as a gift to myself, also.
The gifts are for woman in general and some can even be unisex. There have been gifts such as tea towel, apron, honey, socks which are really good quality. For reading material wise the adult box might suit her more since the book they pick are usual historical fiction, mystery, romance or heavier topics.
They have a young adult box and an adult box. If you look at some of the amazing past boxes
Hi there! We offer both adult and young adult boxes. Our adult boxes are targeted for anyone ages 18+ and our young adult boxes are for anyone ages 14+!
Q: Do you have extra large print available. I would love this box but I have eye problems and need large print. But this box sounds wonderful Asked by Kathleen G., April 2020
Unfortunately, we don't offer large print books as an option for our boxes
as all books included are brand new releases that often have not yet been
printed in large print. We apologize about that!
I really love once upon a book club I normally get the young adult books and sometimes the book isnt what I expect it to be and I end up loving the book anyways they pick the right moments to add a gift and get u into the book
I cannot say enough good things about this. I received the first box of a subscription that was gifted to me by my mother. It was a wonderful surprise... packaged in an adorable box on the outside, with lovely boxed gifts and a book inside. The book I got is SO good I am finding it very hard to put down. And the excited anticipation of opening a gift at a specified time is thrilling. I have opened two of my 4 gifts so far and the immersion in the story makes them that much more of a treasure. This has to be one of the best gifts I have ever received. As if this were not enough, the customer service is FANTASTIC!
This was the coolest box I’ve ever received. I devoured the book in a night because I wanted to see all my cool gifts. I’m in love!
Been subscribing to this for a few months now, and am always excited when the box comes. I'm an avid reader (subscribe to 4 book clubs, and read ~ 6 per month). The books are generally decent - I like that it exposes me to good books and writers I would not generally pick out myself. I like that most of them come with a signed bookplate, but would love it if the books themselves were signed, as other subscriptions do.
The quality of the items are hit and miss. I love the mugs (with quotes from the books) that have been included and adore the quote cards, when they're included. Much of the items are lower quality than i would purchase for myself, but that's to be expected to keep the subscription costs manageable. I have gotten good use from some of the smaller items (cooling cloths, pens, spoons, charging cables, etc). The jewelry items and journal have been a miss - generally cheap to mid quality, and not to personal taste (though generally consistent with the book). I would love to see more things like mugs/glass cups, candles, etc incorporated in when applicable to the story.
The customer service is great! There was an occasion where my box seemed to be missing an item. I emailed them what was included, and they confirmed an item was missing and sent the item.
Overall, I love the interactive experience and well thought out items this subscription provides,...
My first box was fantastic! I would probably never have chosen the book on my own, but I couldn’t put it down. And knowing there are gifts to open spurs you to keep reading! I thought the gifts were adorable and well-made, but what surprised me was how effective the gift opening would help make the book truly come alive. Highly recommend for any book lover!
I got two boxes. The first box, I was not a fan of the book. The 'gifts' were great quality, but also not my style (regiftable though!)
The second box, The book was much more enjoyable, but the gifts were despicable. The first 'gift' was literally a post it note with a string of numbers on it.
Hi Olivia! Thank you so much for your feedback! We typically always include a paper item in our monthly boxes, as frequently letters, photographs, or other paper items are vital to the plot of the novel we've selected and we feel it's important to bring to life for our readers so they feel as though they're in the moment of these scenarios. While these items may not have any monetary value, we hope that the experience of pulling out a slip of paper at the same time as the character creates a value in the experience for you! Additionally, we hope the rest of the gifts were ones you could use and appreciate throughout your daily life! - The...
I cannot say enough good things about this box! I look forward to it every month and am always so impressed by how much enjoy the books and how cool and thoughtful the gifts are. I've spent most of my life assuming I only liked sci-fi/fantasy books, but this box has broadened my horizons! Each month I think "well, not really my thing, but I'll give it a try" and there has not been a book I haven't really enjoyed! And the gifts! They always go the extra mile in personalizing it to the book, but at the same time giving you something you'd actually want. I've been a subscriber for a year and have gotten things such as wireless headphones, pancake mix, a robe, coffee mugs, a purse, a chargibg cable and even a little book shaped flash drive. I highly recommend this box!!
Other than a delay in shipping - maybe due to Christmas season, post office delays, long distance shipping, the subscription is amazing. Cannot wait to hear how my granddaughter enjoys the process.
This box is wonderfully executed: each item comes beautifully packaged, there is group with whom to discuss the monthly read, interesting discussion questions, and unquestionably well-curated items that go along with the read. I found the experience immersive and enjoyable. However, their book choices aren't usually my cup of tea and so I've chosen to cancel this service. Take a look at their book choices before you subscribe and, if you're not an extremely picky reader, check out this fantastic box.
Ordered 2 as gifts.
We just received our box and wanted to post a review.
Overall: The box looks pretty cool. It was a gift for my daughter so I am not the one reading the book or opening the gifts but have high hopes she will enjoy it.
My big issue was with the shipping of the box and the response of the company, I was pretty excited to give this as a gift so planned ahead and ordered early according to their recommendations on their website, so it would come in time for Christmas. They state that they ship between the 17-20 and that is not what happened and they responded with a “sorry for the confusion but we don’t guarantee deliver by Christmas and usps is doing all they can to get them delivered.” My biggest issue was that they didn’t take responsibility for their error. They didn’t have the box packed or shipped by the date they said they would and didn’t offer to refund any of the 9.50 shipping cost. The company didn’t really seem to care much that they made a mistake and that is why I give them two stars for shipping.
Would I buy again- I am not sure about that-there are a lot of book boxes out there to try and my interactions with the company haven’t been super positive.
