That is a great question. First, I would definitely recommend researching your local laws as they are always updating. As of current it is not illegal to own an athame in California (California refers to them as daggers or double side blades). It is illegal to conceal it. So you can have it at home, but you can not take it around with you if it is concealed, so it can not be kept under clothing, in a bag, etc. when in public it is NOT allowed any any form on any school or college property. My best suggestion is to keep it at home
