I love my ShelfLoveReads subscription box. They have the most creative themes, and all of their items are so useful. I’ve never received another subscription box that I’ve loved so much. I subscribed in July of 2018 and have not skipped any boxes since and all have been fabulous. The box only includes non Scifi and fantasy YA books, so in the past we’ve gotten magical realism, contemporary, historical fiction, and mystery.
Everything that’s in the boxes are carefully put together to create a delightful, unique surprise every time! This is my favorite book box in the entire world, and I’m grateful for the work that many people do so others can enjoy it.
I have tried a handful of book subscription boxes and shelflovereads has been my favorite. They have the highest quality items of things I actually will use! They don't just include 'freebie' items but things that you can tell a lot of care and time went into. Also feel like you get a wide variety of books in this box. It's not the same fantasy book that all others include. You could get a thriller, contemporary, etc depending on the months theme. I can't wait to order my next box!
I love Shelflove Reads because they do everything except sci-fi and fantasy. I do love sci-fi/fantasy but its nice to have some other options too.
Their items are always great quality. Some I like more than others but that's normal. Books are always hardcover. Some are signed some come with signed bookplate.
What I really do like about them and that's why I gave them 5 stars is their customer service. If I had an issue they were quick in responding and always very friendly and helpful.
Being unable to edit my previous review, I thought I would include an update and hope that you will make the choice for yourself. After my experience with Shelf Love, they were very forthcoming in making things right. They not only refunded my money, but sent the crate to my friend ANYWAY. My friend really enjoyed the products, although not entirely sure what she got. Then, not long after that, I received an email from the company offering to send me a complementary crate for me to try out, myself. I took up that offer because I believe in second chances. Within 48 hours of sending a reply with my address, the box was on my doorstep.
Inside was a Harry Potter dust jacket, a beautifully made/high quality rainbow scarf, a nice simple wax warmer, a delicious "fruit loops" smelling wax melt, an interesting book that I have never heard of (but looked fun), a mirror, bookmarks, and a necklace. For the $40 the crate cost, it really does include many items that feel like they all value much higher. The only issue I had is that the wax warmer did not come with a tea light (as I don't have any). But that is a small issue.
My friend was happy with her box, and I am happy with their efforts to make things better and verifying that the quality of the box contents are pretty great. They definitely are not a scam, and I...
I have been subscribed to several YA book boxes over the years and Shelflove Reads is one of my favorites. It is very appealing that this box is around general fiction, because so many of YA boxes are focused on fantasy. The bookish items that come along with the book have always been the highest quality and beautiful. I look forward to my box every month.
I sent my payment of almost $40 in the VERY first week of April, fully expecting to be included in the April 2018 box. When the April boxes went out, my box (meant to be delivered to a friend mid April) was not included. When I inquired, they came up with some B.S. excuse as to why I had signed up "too late" to be included (hah!)
However they said the May 2018 boxes would be going out at the begining of May. Well, here it is May 21st and no box to be seen. Just excuses after excuses.
Finally, 11 days ago I got a notification that the box was on its way. Guess what, it still says "pre-shipment" 11 days later. I am pretty much assuming that I will never receive my box and I shouldn't have to wait 2 months to receive a MONTHLY subscription.
I had high hopes but at this point, I had sent an email requesting my money back. Do not even bother with this company!
We are sorry that you had a bad experience with Shelflove this month.
Unfortunately, we had an issue with one of our vendors, which we addressed
via email to our subscribers. The good news is the final batch of boxes
have shipped as of today! If you do not receive your box in two to three
days, please let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can make it up
to you. As for the April box, all sales for April closed on April 1st.
We'll be more mindful of how we label current months for purchase to avoid
confusion in future. We sincerely apologize you were not able to receive
the April box. We do have a past items store shopshelflove.com where a few
