We select exceptionally amazing books that are we super passionate about & feel should be at the top of everyone's To-Read list, books that you'll definitely NOT want to miss out on. We know you can purchase bestsellers and Top 10 books from those big box stores & websites so we don't send anything you'll easily find unless you're in an independent bookstore.
- +INDEPENDENT BOOKSTORE VIBE: We bring the independent bookstore vibe to readers via The Book Drop. Our mailings are curated by real independent booksellers, hand-wrapped in tissue every month, and lovingly packed from our little shop in Fenwick Island, Delaware. All gift notes come hand-written for that super cozy vibe.
- +SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS: The Book Drop is powered and run by Bethany Beach Books, a woman-owned and women-led bookstore. The Book Drop headquarters and shop opened in November 2020 so we are now able to be physically part of two communities.
- +ENVIRONMENTALLY-CONSCIOUS: The Book Drop does their best to be as environmentally-conscious as possible. At the start of 2019, we switched from boxes to recycled padded envelopes to cut back on waste. We also use materials that are made from recycled paper products. We live at the beach so we try to do our best for the planet whenever possible!
- +GIFT SUBSCRIPTIONS: The Book Drop makes for a fabulous gift! Whether you're shopping for the holidays, a graduation or celebration, a baby shower, etc. The Book Drop is a great idea! Our books come hand-wrapped in tissue paper every month, making our subscription feel very gifty already. We also provide a hand-written gift note to the recipient in their first package. Gift Givers can select subscriptions for an assortment of ages and for an assortment of lengths.

Thank you for reaching out! Yes, you can switch between genres or blends at any time. Those changes can be made either in your account settings or by messaging our support email.
Q: Can I get a young adult box that is for a young man, not a girl? My son was in another subscription box, and he kept getting romance novels.Asked by Jeannebartells, April 2020
In an effort to promote gender fluidity among books, we consider all of our book subscriptions to be gender neutral.
Q: What will be the best option to choose for my 13yo son? The middle grade option or the Young Adult?Asked by Veronica G., May 2019
We always leave this up to the parent's discretion. Our Middle Grade subscription is best for readers who read at a Lexile range of 650-890. Our Young Adult subscription is recommended for readers with a maturity level of 13+. Some of our Young Adult books may contain mature content, please take a peek at our Past Books page on our website to see what we have sent in previous mailings.
I’d look at the books he’s recently read to get an idea of which level he’s at since all teenagers are different. If you can’t get that information, I would suggest that you start with middle grade books and if he feels that they’re too easy or that the themes are too childish, you can switch to young adult.
Q: If I purchase two subscriptions for two different people, will they get the same books each month if I select 'books for tea' for both? Asked by Corryn B., December 2021

Thank you for reaching out. Yes, two people in the same subscription type will receive the same book each month! We have one surprise title each month for each subscription type, so all Tea subscribers receive the same book just like any Coffee or Bubbly subscribers will receive the one Coffee or Bubbly book for that month.

I recently discovered The Book Drop on Bookstagram, and signed up right away! Bethany Beach is just one state away from me, and I love the idea of supporting a local book store!
I received my first book, and absolutely loved it. The BOOKS FOR BUBBLY subscription is great for me. I love that the monthly book is a surprise, and so far they have been books I wouldn't necessarily have chosen for myself, but I have loved them. I also gifted the BOOKS FOR COFFEE 3 month subscription to a friend recently, and she loved the gift and her books so far as well. So fun to get a mystery read in the mail every month! I look forward to this each month, and cant wait to see what books comes next!

This was the best Mother's Day gift my daughter could give me. I love books and have given that love to her. The books were not what I would have chosen but I wound up loving the stories. I was so excited to know a book was on the way and the anticipation was refreshing. I was so surprised when I finally opened the package and there was my book. My daughter loved the subscription so much she sent it to her sister for her birthday and I certainly will remember it should the need arise for a unique and fun gift.
