Our Advent box is a specialty seasonal box for the season of Advent! It is available as a stand alone box or a subscription for Advent and Lent boxes every year. This year's box features a Jesse Tree where kids will make 25 (or more) ornaments that go through scriptural history leading up to the birth of Christ! They also will make hand-rolled beeswax advent candles, enjoy several books and devotionals from Living Faith Kids, and watch SuperBook's The First Christmas.
Order by December 6th to get this box!
Q: Are you still shopping to Canada durkng this time? Can we just order single boxes at one time instead of monthly subscription in case mail quitsAsked by Bethan S., March 2020
We had a short subscription to this box (we got the Lite version) and really enjoyed the craft projects that arrived. The kids still talk about rolling their own Advent candle; we will likely do that every year from now on!
We ended up cancelling our subscription because the Mass Box transitioned from print magazines to digital magazines shortly after we subscribed. Call me old-fashioned, but I like paper; my kids and I just can't get into digital books/magazines. Because the magazine was my primary reason for purchasing the subscription (while my kids enjoy crafts, they are beyond the age range for this box), we chose not to continue. I mention this because it looks like the description still has "print magazine" listed, but it actually is digital.
All in all, it's a great subscription to help your child get "hands-on" with Mass, especially at that age where they aren't ready for Communion, but they need to start sitting through Mass.
Thanks for the catch on the listing Kim! We'll update now. Ironically, we've had more people who cancelled the old subscription because they were wasting paper and not using the magazines and wanted materials for different ages they could selectively print. But we understand! God bless.
Right now, with the holiest time of year approaching and churches closed, it was ESSENTIAL for me to find Sunday school materials for my 4 children. I have been finding free printable worksheets, but this will take things to a whole new level, with colorful crafts. I can't wait to sit down with everyone on Sunday and dig in to the first lesson.
I'm not sure if we'll continue to need (or have time for) weekly crafts in addition to regular Sunday school and church attendance, once this quarantine is over, but for this month at least (maybe May as well?), the box is a real necessity for us.
There's nothing else like this available, and I'm very grateful it exists.
Katie- thank you so much for sharing how the Mass Box is benefiting your family in this time. Our goal is always to connect families to Mass in a deeper way. It's a blessing to provide resources for your domestic church to continue finding strength in the Lord!
We have received 3 boxes so far and absolutely love them. The crafts each week have been wonderful, and have helped my 4 children prepare for and remember the Gospel each week. Additionally, they bring along their mass book each week to church and are easily able to follow along with all the readings. Finally, when my children see their crafts through out the house, they are able to remember the teachings of the Gospel (even my 4 year old)!
Thank you for your review! We’re so glad we’ve been able to help your family!
Our kids have really opened up to learning about the Bible since starting the Mass box! Then, when they hear the same readings at Mass, everything starts to connect.
It really helps us to start conversations about the Bible and the Mass with our family. Our kids love the crafts!
The people I've gifted with the Mass Box are so excited about the crafts. They say they are learning more about the Mass right alongside their children. In one family of four the older child reads the instructions as the younger child manages making the crafts. Both families are excited when the box arrives although they confess they sometimes prepare for several weeks at one time. And they really enjoy this "family friendly" approach to mass preparation. Thank you so much for making these crafts and instruction available as it is a true blessing for these families.
First of all, I am a mom of 5 (aged 17-7), and the Head Catechist at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Highlands Ranch, CO. I am responsible for the religious education program for children preschool- sixth grade.
We had just discussed in Oct. ways to get kids excited about attending Mass, and the opportunity to use The Mass Box came up. Nothing like the Holy Spirit kicking you in the tail to get your attention!
This box is TERRIFIC! When I first opened it, it was colorful, and interesting, but so perfectly packaged that I wasn't overwhelmed! Each week in it's own bag, and so easy to use that I can actually tell my kids to go get the bag and get started themselves! (I love stuff that makes them independent!)
The crafts are real, and solid. It's not just a coloring page, or construction paper, but an activity with a greater purpose that draws kids in and helps them see usefulness in our readings. The magazines have the right mix of information and questions so that you can't just be a passive attender, but you have to think about the what's and why's.
I will be recommending this box not only to all of my friends, but to every family in our parish. I know the best ages are 4-8, but I have older ones who will enjoy this stuff too! Thank you for creating such a strong product!
We've really enjoyed the Mass Box - it creates the perfect set up to teach to and from the liturgy at home with young kids. The crafts are engaging and fun, minimal work on the parent's part, and quality videos to help with the how-tos of teaching. All Catholic families with young children should be getting this!
Our March box is themed to Lent. Kids make a game board on the first Sunday of Lent, then add features to the game board as the crafts for the following weeks! It's a great box to learn about Lent and play throughout the season.
Our April Box is all about holy week, Easter, and keeping families CONNECTED through this difficult time.
