Q: What is the current box if I sign up now? Is it the snowman and mug in the first photo?Asked by Liane B., January 2022
Yes, Liane, the current box is the snowman and the mug. If you see another project you would like just make a note when signing up and I can pack a different project. Thank you for considering Your Paint Box, Kathryn
Q: I just ordered a 3 month subscription as a gift (April, May, June). Can you tell me what painting kits she’ll be receiving?Asked by Robyn V., March 2022
Hello Robyn,
The April box will be a blue and white vase with tulips and a small painting of a rabbit. May will have a feminine Mother's Day theme and June will have a slightly more masculine theme for Father's Day (last year it was a sailboat and a mallard duck). Hope that helps! Thank you so much for your order, Kathryn
Q: I heard you may have a junior version. I was looking to gift for a 6 year old. Do you have a Junior version still? Asked by Jennifer C., December 2021
Hello Jennifer, I did have a Junior box, but have put that on hold in order to spend more time marketing the adult box. I've had plenty of 11 years old and up use the adult box, if that helps!
Q: Hi! Has the kit for November (shipping in November) been posted to the site yet? Thanks! :)Asked by Ellen B., November 2021
Hi Ellen, Yes! The boxes are out, and they were a couple of days late as life got chaotic! You should have it any day! Let me know how you like the projects!
I paid for 6 boxes but only received 4
Stephanie, I've looked into this and I see that you cancelled your subscription after box #4, last July. I will send you an email with a screenshot of your order page, and discuss any credits or refunds with you; sometimes mistakes are made in a small business especially when we rely so much on technology. I am so sorry about any confusion and it breaks my heart to see a poor review. I wish you had sent an email to my customer service account any time over the last six months, and we could have cleared this up a long time ago. I do my best every day to make sure that my customers are happy. Kathryn
I think the products are great but for a beginner, this isn't the box for me. The main paintings were too hard for me. The 5x7 was easier. I had 2 boxes and tried one of the main paintings but couldn't finish it. It was a horrible mess! So maybe it is just me but I found them way too hard for a beginner but that is just my recommendation. The boxes did have great products that maybe I can use for something else but I really was looking for something beginner friendly its too bad as it could have been something great. The other major problem is I'm in Canada and with the shipping fee and exchange, it came to $100 CDN!!! which is kinda crazy if you ask me. But you find that with some boxes.
update: I did contact the owner and she had me try one of her other easier paintings the snowman and it turned out better! She was supposed to send me some paint to complete the project but it never came I just bought some myself.
Oh Jennifer! I'm so sorry the projects were a little difficult for you :(
I have been teaching beginners for twenty years, so I've tried to use that experience to make these projects as easy as possible. Painting does take a lot of practice, so first attempts aren't always perfect! Feel free to email some pictures of your finished paintings and I can give you some coaching. The shipping to Canada is high, I absorb a good bit of it. Thank you for your response, keep practicing! Kathryn
This was just what I needed during the pandemic. Asked some facebook friends to do it with me and we did our first box together. The boxes kept coming and each one was made easy and fun. Not overwhelming and learned something new. Love it.
Beautifully packaged. The box has everything I need to create my first paintings. Highly recommend!
Such an amazing teacher. Great gift idea. Bought for a friend in Kansas City! I’ve Been a student of Kathryn Gray for 16 years! My friend is truly enjoying this painting journey with me!
Thank you, Anne, for the nice review. You started with me as a beginner all those years ago! So glad to be teaching your friend in Kansas City now, too!
This was such a fun project to complete with my niece! She has minimal experience with painting (although she does love it and is wanting to get more into it) and also is only 9, but she was able to pick up the lesson rather quickly! I think the way Kathy talks through the steps is very easy to follow as is the way she instructs mixing the colors, etc. This was such an enjoyable activity for us and my niece has been quick to show everyone who comes to her house her new painting. She is proud of herself- I think she is amazed how well it came together! I am looking forward to completing another paint box with her soon!!
I needed a distraction today of all days and decided to overcome my fear of making an ugly painting and just went for it by starting with the small Pumpkin painting.
The Video included was a must for me. I learn by seeing and not reading. Though directions were wonderful to have to refer back to in case you could not remember everything from the video or did not want to go back and watch it again for whatever reason.
I learned a lot from doing the small painting first. The first thing was to make enough paint. It needs to be thick to look correct. I got over being worried about mixing paints very fast so all in all not making enough paint had its good points too.
I needed this distraction today I am very happy with my lopsided pumpkin for my first ever oil painting.
Great Box!!
Our April Box is about Spring, with a painting of a big white bunny rabbit and some red rain boots under an umbrella. You know the old adage "April showers...." and yes, maybe our May box will include "May flowers"!
The May Box was inspired by Mother's Day. Two pretty projects, the beautiful white swan and the blue and white vase with pink roses.
The June Box was inspired by Father's Day. A father and son fishing scene and an adorable golden retriever puppy.
The July Box has a classic summer theme with a painting of a blue bike on the boardwalk and a watermelon slice.
This box has an autumn theme, with a rural red barn and a pumpkin.
Winter is here, let's paint some snow! The 8x10 project this month is of beautiful snow draped evergreens. The smaller project is of a bright red cardinal.
The February Box will include supplies for two, so you can make it a date night project! Happy Valentine's Day!!
The September Box contains two painting projects, a large, bright sunflower and a small adorable bumble bee!
The December painting projects have a happy winter Holiday theme. The larger project is an adorable little red truck with a tree in the back and a cute little dog in the front seat. The smaller project is a pretty wreath. Give the gift of creativity and change a life!!!
Join us and paint this adorable bunny and the pretty little daffodil with these easy and fun lessons. Video YouTube tutorials accompany each lesson.
