Customer Service tanks this box.

I was incredibly excited when I came across this subscription because the business model is very unique in that the customer fills out a detailed profile and receives a book (or books) that are specific to that profile. Also unique were the monthly e-mails in which readers were to see what books the company was potentially purchasing for the month and readers were to give feedback as to if they would be interested in any of those books. Readers were also given the opportunity to rate the books they received so that the company could send more or less of the similar type of book.
I received two books in July and two books in August. All four books fit within my profile expectations. They didn't "wow" me, but they were enjoyable.
Unfortunately, as my review title states, the customer service for Yureka is horrible. I attempted to contact Yureka support on July 24th about a question and did not receive a response until August 16th despite contacting via numerous contact avenues (including the "contact seller" portion of cratejoy). My actual question was also never answered.
The price for the subscription will double starting in October and I see no benefit to the reader if they continue their subscription. In my case, I would still be getting only two paperbacks a month and zero customer service.

This is a pretty average box. I've had it for three months and just canceled it. The books are hit or miss just like the rest of the boxes, despite being customized. The books on the list they send out are pretty c-grade (they have a 3.0 rating on Goodreads, but sometimes you will get lucky and get a 3.5 or 3.75-ish rating. Rarely you will see books rated at a 4.0). The books have the dots on the bottom or tops, so they are purchased from an overstock company (like the books you can buy from BookOutlet and have a lot of the same stock from the BookOutlet list compared to the ones on the list they send out every month).
I'd say that I enjoyed 3 out of 6 books I got for the three months I was subscribed.

I really like the fact that they try to cater to the customer by asking them a series of questions. For my first box I got two books which sounded very interesting to me, one of which I was planning on buying soon anyway. It's affordable and chosen for the customer. Highly recommend this subscription box.
