Vacations are rare for the Will Street Detective Agency staff. You've read a lot of interesting stories about the Founder’s Festival in Cape Anna and think it would be a shame to miss this opportunity. You reconsider your position on the matter when you arrive at the festival and see an all too familiar site at the end of a row of tents - police tape. Pull back the curtain and examine the dark heart that beats beneath this sleepy, seaside town.

Q: Do you ship to Canada?Asked by Jennifer S., October 2021
Hi Jennifer
Thanks for your question.
We do not ship our subscriptions to Canada at this time. However, we do ship our one time boxes to Canada. You can find our one time boxes on our website under the "one time purchases" tab.
Q: The description reads "some Internet access required via smartphone or tablet". Can it be accessed through a laptop? Also, is this something that one person can do on their own?Asked by Laura W., November 2019
As some other people have answered, there are QR codes that must be scanned. Once scanned they have you download a file or sometimes redirect to YouTube. Recently they had us send an email to a specific address that provided some answers and more clues.
And yes this is totally doable on your own.
Yes, there are websites that allow you to use your webcam and scan QR codes. This is how we do boxes.
We like to use an iPad (tablet). You can even use a phone (or two).
There are QR code’s that need to be scanned to follow a link. It wouldn’t work with a laptop I don’t believe. You could solve it as one person if you wanted to.
This is definitely something one person can do on their own. A laptop could be used as long as it has a camera and the ability to scan and read QR codes.
Q: Does each mystery box build on the last, or are there new mysteries every time?Asked by Michelle J., April 2019
Each box is it's own self-contained mystery, requiring no knowledge of prior boxes. However, there are some very minor references and easter eggs that are fun for people who have done multiple boxes (and they are so minor that you miss nothing if you don't even get them). Again, no knowledge of prior boxes is needed. Each stands alone. That was a big concern for me, too, when I was deciding on what box to subscribe to, so I understand...
Each of our boxes are stand-alone mysteries. They all take place within the same universe so you will see characters or locations appear in multiple boxes. But they are not written where you have to solve one box before solving another.
No, each month is different.
Each box is a brand-new mystery.
Q: We received the box and it says to go online to get the list of contents but I can't find anywhere online that lists that...can you help?Asked by Emma L., May 2022

We really love this box. Both our friends and ourselves purchased so we could play via zoom during Covid to stay connected and we had so much fun on our mystery days!! Now my 10 year old and me do them too. Really great, well thought out product & each one so much different than the last. HIGHLY recommend.
Thank you so much for the great review, Michelle! We are so happy to hear that you were able to use our boxes to stay connected to your friends during Covid!
From my very first box, I have been addicted to Deadbolt Mystery Society. I love the mysteries, the interactive nature of the games, and the tie-ins to other boxes and storylines. It adds another layer of fun to search for hidden Easter Eggs and to explore the Valley Falls universe that the writers have so meticulously created. The boxes are super creative and perfect for date nights. Out of the different mystery box subscriptions out there, Deadbolt Mystery Society is my favorite!
Thank you so much for the stellar review, Misty! We appreciate you taking the time to recommend us.
Me and my girlfriend play these escape room boxes on a monthly basis. Even going so far to get the older ones we missed. These boxes are great for anyone that loves escape rooms but here, you can do them at home with friends and family. The picture I posted is only a small amount of the boxes we have from them. We just got the mini-box for Valentine's Day and The Last Resort, which was the box of the year for them. The puzzles are fun and will have you thinking the whole way through each box! I cannot recommend them enough!
Thank you for the recommendation! We are thrilled to know that you and your girlfriend have been enjoying our boxes and we count ourselves lucky for our amazing customers like you!
DMS are a great company for Murder Mystery boxes, I personally like the Paranormal Mystery ones like Killian House. I highly recommend them.
Thanks for taking the time to leave this great review, Adrianna! We really appreciate it.
I found the Deadbolt Mystery Society a little over a year ago and have all of their mysteries except for three that I’m hoping they will re-release. I love how varied their mysteries are, even though they all take place in the same “town”. I eagerly await each month’s new release and enjoy either solving the mysteries by myself or with family — we’ve even done it over Zoom! This is by far the best mystery box subscription out there — and I’ve subscribed to 4 others in the past.
Thank you so much, Jennifer! We are thrilled to know that you enjoyed our boxes so much.
Make sure to check our website often in case we re-release the boxes you are looking for. They typically sell out very fast!
My husband and I tried a few different mystery boxes before choosing one. Out of all of them we LOVED DMS the best. We love how you can solve the mystery with only one box in a few hours. We currently subscribe and have purchase many one time boxes as well! We can’t wait to dive into the mystery each month when the box arrives!
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, Brianne! We're glad you and your husband have been enjoying our boxes and we look forward to solving mysteries with you guys for a long time to come!
I've enjoy DMS boxes for over a year now and they are by far my favorite subscription box!
Thanks for the great review, Joseph! We love to hear that you've been enjoying our boxes for so long now.
There isn't a thing I don't love about the Deadbolt Society's boxes, and Cratejoy handled the logistics without incident.
Thank you for the great review, Paul! We really appreciate you taking the time to give us feedback.
I love the monthly mystery boxes! It's so fun to do them with friends or family! They range from bizzare plots to supernatural events, with twists, turns, and delightful puzzles along the way!
