Music Library is a monthly subscription box that uses children's books about music to introduce readers to diverse styles of music and musicians. Read about Beethoven, Bob Marley and everyone in-between! Curated to foster a life-long appreciation for music and reading!
Q: What ages are the books recommended for?Asked by Laura G., July 2020
The books included with a Music Library subscription are great for pre-readers, newly independent readers and independent readers alike. You'll likely find several of the books we use on the shelves in an elementary school music room. Box contents that accompany the book are recommended for ages 4 and older.
It was hard waiting for this box. I missed the July cutoff so it was about a month before we got our first box. Shanan was amazing and gave us access to the media library so I could get a feel for what was offered in addition to the physical contents of the box. Both my children have loved the first box and media library. We have tried over 20 boxes during shut down an watching our kids engage this one my husband said, "now this is a good one." I've included of picture of my son who ran and got a mask because he was so excited to learn to drum.
I'm so glad it was worth the wait!
Oh my goodness, I love this box. It's fun, it's educational, it's exciting. The themes are so well put together. Our first box had a real record and my young daughter had never actually seen a record before. Our second box had a drum and a drum theme book. I can't say enough about the quality and educational aspect of this. My daughter is getting a music education and she just thinks she's having fun!
I'm so glad you and your daughter are enjoying your subscription! Hooray for having fun while learning!
The first 3 boxes we got were very interactive, but the last two (Bach and Soup Opera) were both major disappointments in terms of creative activities to go along with the books. We're really hoping to be wowed again next month, but considering dropping this subscription if the crafts and instruments don't come back.
Thank you for the very valuable feedback! Make sure you're visiting our resources page for musical story time and mini-music lessons. I look forward to wowing you with our next box!
The idea is great, however, I was under the impression i'd be receiving several books at once, not one and then a lesson idea to go with it. NOT worth the money
Thank you for your feedback, Anna.
Yes, each Music Library box is curated to create a fun, educational experience surrounding one book each month. This is accomplished by including 2-3 activities per box as well as access to our online resources (musical story time, videos, playlists, worksheets and more). Thanks for giving Music Library a try and I hope you are able to find a box that suits your needs!
Nice box. Quality items but they seem young for my kids 7 and 8. I feel like these are better for 3-5 year olds. But otherwise a nice box
Hi Stacey! Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. Music Library is curated with children of all ages in mind. The books in a Music Library box are selected for pre-readers, beginning readers, independent readers and the adults that read to them-it’s meant to be a family affair! Items in the boxes are generally manufactured for children ages 4+. I hope you’ll visit the subscriber resource area on the Music Library website where you will find several extension activities and printable downloads that will give you ideas on how to further utilize the contents of the box and create a fun and musical learning experience for your children!
It's a modern-day Carnival of the Animals! This box included the new, best-selling book Wild Symphony by Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown, finger puppets for dramatic play, a tambourine, hand drum and coloring card bingo sheets to use while you listen to the wonderful music that Dan Brown composed just for this book!
There's a lot of aloha in this box! The Good Song is a heartwarming story inspired by the song Somewhere Over the Rainbow* What a Wonderful World by Hawaiian ukulele player Israel Kamakawiwoʻole. In this box we learned how to play a traditional game of Hawaiian Checkers (Kōnane) and made a paper flower lei but everyone's favorite thing about this box was definitely the mini ukulele!
We all have dreams. Millo makes sure that hers come true, no matter what others tell her. In this box we learned about drums, rhythm, dreams and Cuba!
