I've got two boxes from this company. The first, dealing with a fragment of a bone from an archangel was quite a quest that took me and several friends a number of hours to complete. The second, dealing with homicidal clowns, was less fascinating but still an interesting puzzle. It takes some patience to work through all the ciphers and hidden meanings, but overall it's been quite fun and well-worth the money.
We've been subscribers for almost a year now, and we are definitely fans. Getting a new box in the mail every month is fun and highly anticipated. We gather a few family members and delve into the great in-depth materials together. We typically can finish a mystery in a nice pleasant evening of investigation, puzzle solving, and discussion. The background of Forrest City and all the inter-connected plots and characters are just fascinating - after a few boxes, you really start to feel you know some of the business and families that populate the town. Each mystery has a very different flavor, ranging from crimes of passion, to bizarre themed serial killers, to historical/archeological expeditions, to wide-ranging conspiracy. The materials in the box are generally very well done and thematic. There are frequently some additional themed items in the box that are of variable quality, but definitely add to the atmosphere. The mysteries and puzzles to be solved in the box are always engaging and spark some good conversation among our group. It feels great when you figure everything out and the solution falls into place. The difficulty level of the puzzles is highly variable - some are very easy and some are quite difficult. Some, it must be admitted, are not difficult but just a little tedious. It depends what you like - not all of the puzzles will appeal to the same tastes, but overall we...
I've been getting these boxes since last summer and I've liked nearly all of them! There's not only a different mystery to solve every month but a bigger meta mystery that's ongoing and connects to characters and places within the Forrest City universe. The creators, Christopher and Amy Forrest, are very involved in not only creating these boxes but in striving to provide great customer service and communication to us fans in a timely and fun manner. I definitely would recommend these boxes for mystery lovers!
Definitely look forward to receiving the mystery each month! Newer subscriber - have only rec'd 3 so far; but have bought some earlier ones online. It is great - we've done some as a small group & we've done some with a bigger group; and will continue to do so every month. It is a little expensive - but by the time a couple of groups (of friends) solve it, it can be re-sold. Some are easier & some are harder to complete; and there are some typo's (accidental & on purpose). Keep on, keepin' on!
I love this boxes. PERIOD. They are interesting and engaging but... It’s a little overpriced for an average of two hours that you’ll spend working with the box. Overall the stories are engaging, the puzzles can be challenging and, even though the twists related to some characters can be somewhat forced, they always give you that “aha!” moment. Great choice for a game night. The online community (Facebook) is nice and helpful.. but, should you have an honest opinion about the game, make sure you don’t say anything that the creators won’t like (even if it’s the truth), your comment could be deleted because you’re not praising the product. Nothing is perfect, but I’d definitely recommend it to friends. Aside from that, great source of entertainment for those who like mystery and puzzles.
Look forward to a new box every month. Great to do alone or with a group.
