Delve down rich rabbit holes of time-worn tales and uncover captivating stories every month with this subscription adventure box. Each month captivates with a standalone challenge rooted in history. The Resystance is based on real-life resistance movements throughout time.
Join us in Iceni territory in eastern England. The year is 61 AD. The Iceni people are independent but have allied with the Romans. King Prasutagus has died and the Romans are moving to pillage and disarm all the people in the area of Briton that Rome controlled, including the Icenis. Queen Boudica disagrees. She prepares to lay siege on Camolodunum to drive back the Romans and your mission is to join the young Iceni warriors in learning the skills needed to resist.

Q: How do I order just one box, not a subscription?Asked by Carolyn G., December 2020
If you order a gift subscription it will just be one box and not a subscription. Thank you for asking!
Q: Will the CRAAAFT box arrive before Christmas?Asked by Sarah N., November 2020
CRAAAFT boxes ship the second week of the month, which is well before the USPS holiday cut off, which is usually between the 18th and the 21st of December.
Q: Is there an online component? I am looking for a subscription that has NO internet requirement. Asked by Sarah N., November 2020

Although the play of some boxes are contained to the box itself, others are
not. Also, all hints and solutions are on a website, although we are happy
to print these out and include them in the box if you request it.

Q: Would this be suitable for 10 year olds? Would they be able to play by themselves or would they need help? Looking for a Christmas gift for my grandkids and sneaking in a little learning would be funAsked by Bonnie P., November 2020
The game does not have any material that is not family friendly, but the puzzles can be quite challenging. We regularly have players at 13 and 14, but we did recently have a 10 year old play the CRAAAFT and had to switch him over to the Resystance boxes because our October box, which featured a witch and some scary witch images, was too scary for him. We are always happy to work with you on choosing a story line that works for your family, even if it isn't the current month's box. Just email us!
Lovely box with lots of detail and the real life history tie in made it so very interesting. Authentic looking collectibles make this box one of the more well made ones worth the price. I look forward to playing more mysteries with the Resystance in the future!
When my box came, I opened it up and was immediately intrigued by the contents, and cursing myself for promising to wait for my son so we could do it together.
History and puzzles and current technology all woven together in an experience that I absolutely love.
The puzzles aren’t too easy to solve, but also aren’t so difficult that you can’t figure them out without hints (although they do provide them if you need them, I very stubbornly refused to look!).
What stands out even more than the product itself are the people behind it.
I had some unique shipping hurdles to overcome. The team behind this product gave the best customer service I have seen in a LONG time. I don’t know any of their names, and my dealings have been always through email. They are quick and responsive, and really want to help you.
The only negative thing I can find, is that I didn’t know about them sooner.
If you like puzzles and cyphers, and history, without serial killers and horror, I would suggest joining the Resystance!!
We've done a couple of these boxes now, and they are very well thought through. We found a couple content issues, contacted them, and they were very prompt and thoughtful in their responses - they truly care about a fun and interesting experience! Looking forward to more!
GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE - There was an issue with my delivery and I emailed them. Received a human response right away, they were very kind and helpful.
I purchased the 3-month package as a gift for my boyfriend. We love mystery games/puzzle boxes and crush at escape rooms, so a subscription seemed like something we'd love. I had been wary in the past, worried that the experience and challenge might disappoint. Because Madmen & Hero's mixes puzzles in with real historical events I was really intrigued and took a chance - and I'm so glad I did!! We received our first box, and still working through it. It's very cool, very clever, I'm very satisfied with the level of difficulty and impressed by the thoughtfulness of the package. Many great at-home date nights to come!
Very interesting story to follow. Loved all the puzzles and cyphers! Definitely a great box if you’re looking for something a little challenging but still fun.
Looking forward to enjoying it!
In my review above, I forgot a very important sentence. When I said that I didn’t know the team by name, and that we’ve only ever communicated through email, I wanted to also says that they always make me feel like they honestly care about my experience.
I purchased a 3-month subscription to host a summertime History Mystery Club for my 13 YO son and his friends. They totally got into it...solved one mystery faster than the other two, but that's okay. It's a fun, collaborative activity that kept 13 YO boys engaged. What more could you ask? :-) I plan on purchasing again this summer.
Puzzles were ok, but no overall storyline. We solved the last of several unrelated puzzles and were done. We spent ten minutes trying to figure out what we missed. Nothing. Solve these unrelated puzzles and go about your business.
Not well done. Not worth the time or money.
Cancelled immediately after realizing we were done.
We are so sorry our box didn't meet your expectations. This story line is based on what actually happened during this great historic event, so it won't have the same feel as the usual murder mysteries out there. Although some parts of the story are fictionalized to make the overall experience flow, part of our learning mission includes not directly contradicting real life events. Consequently, our boxes won't be the same experience as the pure fiction stories available, but for those who like a deep dive into historic events with a sense of being there for the unfolding of monumental events, there is a great deal of information to explore in the stories. We like to offer our subscribers a variety of experiences, so although...
Box was a simplistic Einstein’s riddle with trinkets that were barely topical. Second months subscription was charged before the first box was even shipped. Very underwhelmed, would suggest several other escape room boxes if you look you’ll be happier with
We are sorry that you didn't find the box challenging. Our boxes are definitely designed for the casual puzzler who wants to spend a couple of hours in a relaxed setting to solve a fun mystery. While we did use an overall zebra logic puzzle here, there were several other puzzles in the box as well to add to the complexity of the box. As the story was set in a Buddhist monastery, we thought that the prayer flags and prayer beads were on topic, and we are sorry to learn that you disagree. Every one of our boxes uses different puzzle types so you will see in the second box you purchased that it is a completely different experience and we hope you...
