Q: Looking to gift this for my dad. He only has a gas grill though. Do all of these recipes include gas grill instructions or do you also need a smoker/charcoal grill? Thanks!Asked by Kim A., December 2022
Thank you for reaching out! All our recipes include directions that will work for gas grill, charcoal grill, or traditional smokers.
Q: I do not eat pork; can I use the port centered spices for meats other than pork?Asked by Janice S., November 2022
Hello apologies for the delay in response!! The short answer is yes you could, however our recipes and rubs are geared toward a specific meat. We have seen folks be creative in their individual execution and come up with great ideas. I would recommend that any of the pork recipes with sugars be used on meats like chicken or something similar.
Q: Is the packing paper in these boxes just paper or is it supposed to be butcher paper?Asked by Christine H., April 2022
Thank you for your question! The paper we use is in fact butcher paper, but we include it just as box filler. We figured it made sense for a BBQ box!
Q: My BBQ Box.....are the rubs only good for BBQ or can they be used in the oven? Can I set the first shipment in March? I don't see where I would request that?Asked by Jamie A., December 2021
Thank you for reaching out! Our rubs and recipes are geared toward cooking on a gas grill, charcoal grill, or traditional smoker. While the recipes could technically be cooked in an oven you would not be able to add any of the smoke to the meat in an oven and would miss on some the key flavors.
Regarding the timing, if you subscribe you can contact us with your subscription info and request a delayed start and we can take care of that.
Thank you!
The recipes and instructions are outstanding. I have never been able to barbecue this well and my first two boxes were exceptional. The only suggestion I would have is to include a barbecue accessory that is related to the recipe. For example today's recipe called for a spritz of apple juice and it would have been useful to have included a spritz spray bottle with that recipe instead of the barbecue claws.
Containers for seasoning every time. Other than that, this is a pretty awesome product.
This was only the first box we received but I'm quite happy and impressed. We haven't had a chance to use anything but the taste of the rub is amazing. And I LOVE the instructions. My boyfriend just started using a smoker this past year and it really helps esp if you don't know what your doing. I can't wait to try this first box
Excited about the recipe and love the nice an heavy weight gloves.
It was an ok box. Loved getting a smoke tube so now I have 2 of them.
Loved my first box! It would be nice to know what brand of pellets and a have a sauce to go with it.
I like this subscription and enjoy the new recipes. I’d like it if you included more bbq accessories. I got a shaker for rub or spices but for what I pay I’d expect a bit more value. I enjoy the adventure but think it’s a bit overpriced. Maybe some accessory that compliments the recipe. Like something cool from Alabama for the Alabama chicken.
I got my husband this box as a Christmas gift last year. He loves it. The quality of the spice rubs, the recipes, and the extra gift each month has been amazing. He is so excited to get this box every month. He and I would recommend this for every level of smoking/BBQ level.
I expected more for what I paid for. Chips and coozie were nice, maybe a meat thermometer to add in.
I just think that the box is overpriced for not having any recipes, suggestions, or more items to try. Even if they were one use items, the box would provide more value.
The term “dry” isn’t one often associated with BBQ in a positive manner. However, serious rib aficionado’s will ask you if you take your ribs “wet” or “dry”. Memphis style baby backs (because that's what they use at a legendary BBQ joint in Memphis) are cooked directly over charcoal and will open your mind to BBQ outside "traditionally smoked" meats!
We may not meet your expectations with this recipe because the meat we meet in this recipe isn’t a meat at all. No, we didn’t become vegetarians overnight however the center of this month’s box is the Jalapeno. Don’t fret, the sausage and bacon we add to this dish will ensure we continue our carnivore heritage here at My BBQ Box. This delicacy goes by many names, but you will no doubt find this version served by our friends high in the Rockies during Bronco’s games.
Our November box is Alabama Chicken. Chicken is a staple of BBQ from coast to coast but for this southern specialty we turn to the pitmasters of Alabama. They take perfectly smoked chicken and dunk it in a one of kind white bbq sauce. We show you how to prepare this delicacy that will have your guests lickin’ fingers and begging for the recipe.
You don’t have to be Augustus McCrae driving cattle from Texas to Montana to enjoy a good beef rib. However, he would be the first to tell you that well seasoned and smoked beef rib is a delicacy like no other.
Kentucky produces bourbon that is among the finest of its kind in the world. A homemade slather, some My BBQ Box rub, and just a touch of Kentucky’s finest will take these pork chops to another level.
In Texas brisket is the gold standard of BBQ. All other types of Q stand in the shadow of this meat monolith. It can be intimidating but you have My BBQ Box, and we will walk you through every step to ensure your results would make Texas proud, and you a neighborhood BBQ hero!
