I couldn't really get into the book, but I'm still trying.
I like the box and I think the bookish items are cute, but the only reason I decided to cancel this subscription was the fact that I didn't care for the books that were selected. This box is all over the place when it comes to picking a book. One month you could get a romance novel, the next month a women's fiction book, the next month could be a fantasy book. Unless you read all kinds of books, this isn't really a subscription that benefits me (book wise). I am giving away more books than I'm taking in and keeping on my shelves. This is why I ultimately canceled this box. Also I will add this box is tailored more for women book nerds, I don't see a lot of guys wanting to get this subscription
Thank you for your honest feedback. I do apologize that the books weren't to your taste. You're correct, Unplugged provides a variety of genres! One of the reasons Unplugged began was to offer all kinds of books - primarily those that don't have a ton of pre-publishing hype - to challenge and expose readers to a landscape of new books. Book choices also depends on what is releasing from publishing companies each month, which is why I always provide the genre and plot hints so you may skip a month if it's not to your taste. These are posted on my website, sent via e-mail, and posted on social media each month. Unplugged is a self-care book box, and I personally believe self-care is...
I love book subscription boxes so I was excited to try this one out but ended up being pretty meh about it. The book shipped quickly and I had no issues with receiving or cancelling my subscription. I was initially unsure on the book pick, as that month it was a contemporary book which I am not a huge fan of but I ended up liking it more than I thought I would. my issue was the other goodies in the book. I believe I got the february box which I think the theme was forbidden love, and the bookish goods they included was decidedly subpar. The items were cheap and random and, to me, didn't tie in together to promote the overall theme. As I said the book selection was good but everything else was a disappointment so for me this isn't a subscription I'll try again.
