Hej, friends! Becky, the founder of Fikabröd, here 💕 If you’ve read our About page, you know that in April 2018 after being together my entire adult life, my best friend & basset hound Preston passed away, which completely and absolutely devastated me. We’re talking severe depression, anxiety, suicidal tendencies, the works. (Thank goodness for my husband, therapist, parents, and meds.) I’ve always loved baking, and I started baking more and more as part of my therapy and self-care. It was during all of this baking that I came up with the idea for Fikabröd.

Since Preston is so tied into the origin of Fikabröd and his birthday is 17 May, our May box was definitely influenced by him. I spent even more time than usual brainstorming and researching to curate a fabulous assortment of ingredients and goodies that are meaningful to me while also being yummy and exciting for y’all. I am proud to say that this box is amazing—as is only appropriate for something in honour of the goodest boy ever 🐶🌈✨

This box includes:

• 🥓 Original Bacon Salt • J&D’s
  I would always say that Preston LOVED bacon, even though—like all bassets—he loved pretty much all food. One year my parents even bought him a shirt that said “I Like Bacon on My Bacon.” Despite the shirt being a large, it was still too small, so the arm holes became ear holes!
  
  Surprisingly, this bacon salt is vegetarian, low sodium, and kosher certified. Use it to add a smoky flavour to your bakes, sprinkle it on popcorn, or include in your savoury dishes.

• 🥜 Peanut Butter with Wildflower Honey & Sea Salt • Big Spoon Roasters
  What doggo doesn’t love peanut butter!? I can still picture Preston excitedly spinning in circles when he knew he was about to get a nearly empty PB jar or a PB-filled Kong.
  
  This handcrafted peanut butter features fresh-roasted peanuts with touches of raw honey and sea salt, finished off with a smidge of organic coconut oil for a wonderful texture.

• 🥛 Yoghurt Chips • NutStop
  Yoghurt is my default breakfast, and on mornings when I would work from home, Preston would patiently wait for me to finish. I would then give him the pot of yoghurt, which he would carry over to his bed, then hold between his paws while he licked it completely clean. There are few things more adorable than a puppy holding something between his paws.
  
  Take a break from your typical baking chips and use these yoghurt chips in your bakes! They’re also a great addition to trail mix.

• 🍔 Royal Icing Cheeseburgers • Sprinkle Robot
  Every year I would take Preston’s birthday off from work to celebrate him all day long. One of our traditions was going through Wendy’s drive-thru to get Preston a junior bacon cheeseburger. So of course we had to include something burger-related in this box!
  
  Made by hand, these darling royal icing transfers are the perfect finishing touch for cupcakes and cakes. These will be especially fun to use with summer coming up!

  Preston’s full name is Preston Reese Carnegie, as he came into my life right after I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University. This lovely stamp is a nod to his Scottish last name.

  My mom has quite the green thumb, and my parents’ yard is full of gorgeous flowers and plants. Whenever we would visit, Preston would sneak a few bites of his grandma’s echinacea.
  
  Widely considered beneficial to the immune system, echinacea has been combined with peppermint, ginger, elderberry, rose hip, and other helpful herbs to create this tasty tea.
