WHAT IS IT
The Space Shuttle Orbiter Vehicle was a type of spacecraft used from 1981 to 2011 for transporting humans and cargo into outer space in order to conduct experiments and deploy satellites. This sample consists of a piece of material from one of these 6 ships.
INTERESTING PROPERTIES
• A piece of one of the most expensive, high-tech, and ambitious science projects of its time.
• Flown in outer space.
• Orbited the earth hundreds of times, at 22x the speed of sound, travelling millions of miles.
USES
Was once a critical part of our space delivery sytem. Now it is collectible as matter from outer space, whether man- made or not, is very rare.
