Pictures are deceiving

This March is all about clay! We will be creating two air dry clay projects (weeks one and weeks two). Then, we will paint them for our final two weeks of the month! This month we will explore the amazingly simple art media called charcoal! It's a humble art supply, but can do amazing wonders when you learn to use it in the right ways to achieve your artistic goal. This month we'll go through the basics of this media.

Our ‘Classic’ box (and ASB — combined for the summer) will look at creating negative space and inverted highlights with Museum Series Scratch Board from Ampersand. Our July box is going to be epic if you want to learn about drawing realistic faces!
August 2022
This month we will be doing some old school ink drawing and calligraphy! This one is the same as the ASB until September when the school year begins again.
September 2022
The September box theme is all about butterflies and living out our childhood bug collecting dreams, but without the bugs. We will create four projects, but you'll have the option to combine some of them onto a wooden canvas. This box includes: a wood canvas, sewing scissors, paper for the projects, and dual sided markers.
November 2022
This box was all about printmaking! To explore this art media we will explore foam printmaking on paper, making a garland, and printing on a tea towel!
December 2022
This month we will explore ways to create with a watercolor-like art media, a paint called Cretacolor gouache. We will explore a variety of techniques used to create unique, realistic seasonal paintings. The topics are: a nutcracker, fireplace, a carved carrousel reindeer, and a winter scene snow globe.
January 2023
This box is all about creating both functional and fine art with polymer clay.
February 2023
In February we'll be making some spring-y themed needle felting projects: a landscape, pop art themed project, a portrait, and a bird.
March 2023
Our March Classic Artist Box will feature an art medium called Chinese watercolors. We will take a renewed look at the traditional painting techniques as we make practice color palettes and marks before we begin each painting. We will be using a bamboo brush and silk paper to practice a variety of designs; the compositions include botanical, floral, pattern, and an animal (an alpaca). We think the lessons in this box will prepare you to paint anything you want!
